I recently went here for my dose of yummy Indian food. Ive eaten at many different indian restaurants in the GTA, including little india on Gerrard street, and still love this place for many different reasons. This is my go to spot for good quality, flavourful food that keeps me coming back each and every time. Here's my review:
Service: great. Naan is served at the table ongoing replenished by server throughout meal. Seating always available.
Atmosphere: cozy, romantic lighting, seating for larger group and individual or small groups. Instrumental music in background light enough for tasteful touch, able to carry on conversation at table. Relaxed atmosphere.
Cleanliness: good. Washrooms are clean.
Food quality: amazing! The selection of items is just right. My favorite has been their unlimited buttery naan, butter chicken (love it at this location), paneer in any form (If you like cheese, you'll like this), tandoori chicken, curry goat.
If you are vegetarian, it has ample selection for you to choose.Often I find it's challenging to find a restaurant that's both tasty and serves variety of veggie options especially when out with friends who are vegetarian. By the way I did bring a couple friends here who were vegetarian, and they loved it. They were surprised at the selection especially that it's in ajax, ontario.
The stand out for me is that every fish is not spicy, just so flavourful and each has a different taste. I've been to so many Indian restaurants ordering different options, only to find that they taste the same in terms of curry sauce. Here, that is not the case. Sometimes it's not about the number of items on a menu, it's about how tasty the items are that always excite and indulge the taste sensations.
Location: ajax, ontario. Convenient location with ample parking. Hidden gem in the GTA east end.
Price: affordable. $15-30 depending on lunch or dinner buffet. Well worth every penny.
Overall: will...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mumbay grill, an Indian restaurant offering an impressive buffet that caters to both non-vegetarian and vegetarian preferences. For a mere $20 (approximately $23 with tax), I indulged in a selection of over 30 delectable items, which is an outstanding value for the price.
The buffet featured a wide array of dishes, but some notable highlights for me, as a Bengali, included:
• Butter Chicken: Rich and creamy, perfectly spiced. • Chicken Tandoori: Succulent and well-marinated. • Naan: Freshly baked and soft. • Spring Rolls: Crispy and flavorful. • Begun and Aloo Bhaji: A delightful combination of fried eggplant and spiced potatoes. • Fish Fry: Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. • Salad: Fresh and refreshing. • White Rice Polao: Fragrant and fluffy. • Chicken Tikka: Juicy and aromatic. • Goat Curry: A standout dish that truly made the buffet worth every penny.
For dessert, I found the ice cream to be satisfying choices. However, the ras malai and rice pudding did not quite meet my taste expectations.
The service at Mumbay grill was exceptional. Despite feeling unwell, the attentive staff ensured my comfort by promptly refilling my glass with warm water whenever needed. Their hospitality significantly enhanced my dining experience.
In conclusion, Mumbay grill offers an incredible variety of delicious dishes at an unbeatable price. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy a hearty meal for just $20. The quality and quantity of food, combined with excellent service, make it a worthwhile...
Read moreOverall, food was good and service /ambience was not so good.
We came in during Google's #MapYourWorld Week. We were having a progressive lunch in Pickering Village. We wanted to sample the tandoori chicken. There was one group table seated and another group who came in after us. The server gestured to a table. We sat. He sourced some table set ups for us from a centre round table which was stacked with linens, etc. See picture.
He poured water for us.
We then waited. And waited. And waited. Music played, but the most prominent noise was the crash and clang of silverware as someone sorted what must have been every utensil they had for a solid ten minutes. No menus. No return to ask whether we'd like the buffet. He visited the other tables. It was odd. I finally walked to the front and picked up menus. I stood up to get his attention and when he came by, to ask if we could order.
The tandoori was served on a sizzling platter covered by lettuce. The menu suggested that the tandoori was served with salad and naan but this presentation of delicious chicken with wilted lettuce and slimy cooked cucumbers was a little gross. The naan was soft inside and crispy outside, which I loved.
Not quite sure if this place is worthwhile so will give it a 3 for now and see if it is better at a...
