Awful service and management. I called last Thursday to make a reservation. I was told they dont take reservations for the weekends. I said, great, because I want to make a reservation for Friday. They told me Friday was the weekend...since when? Anyway, no problem. We went the next day at 7pm. The first thing the hostess said was, "do you have a reservation?" Seriously?? I didn't even comment because I was so annoyed. I didn't want to be rude. The hostess said it would be a 15 minute wait for inside as we didnt want to sit outside. She took our phone number and said we would receive a text when the table is ready. We waited half an hour and no text. We settled for a table outside as we were hungry. We asked that when a table frees up inside, if we could be moved. She said she would check. 10 minutes went by, no server, no menus. Then a family went in. We saw a table being cleared off and were relieved as it was quite chilly outside. Unfortunately for us, they sat that family that just arrived. We got up and left. We went to the restaurant next door and were seated and treated promptly. Within 5 minutes, we sent an email to Captains boil, privately giving our feedback. One week later, we still havent gotten a response. Not to mention, we got our text that our table was ready, at 11:16pm! This was the worst experience. Extremely disappointing and disgusted to be treated that way.

I didn't come here to fill up on rice, corn, or potatoes, and them being inside the bag of seafood seemed like it was to add weight. Each side is $3 on its own and the price went up by that amount exactly. Only way to get to the full amount is to ask them to hold the sides, even though you get charged for them. All negative comments aside, the food was delicious, the service was great, and they will reserve you a table so you don't have to worry about showing up and there's nowhere to sit. The Cajun fries are a must, but they will not up charge and sub that for a regular side that is now mandatory. Ps, take a pound bag to go and use it as the base to make an entire large slow cooker full of food. Got a pound bag to go of the lemon pepper shrimp and used that as a base to make a full large slow cooker meal and it didn't need any other spices, turned out sssooo good! Message if you want the recipe.

The kitchen accidentally gave us all headless shrimp instead, but it wasn't the server's fault, and she did ask us if it was fine before giving it to us. Ultimately, it's not an issue to me. The potato wasn't piping hot like I'm used to (it was cooled down in the center), so I will say food wise, the Scarborough location does better. I usually go to the Scarborough location, but this is the closest one to us now, so I figured we would give it a shot instead of driving so far. I do prefer the food quality & atmosphere in Scarborough for some reason, it feels bigger and they are much more busy but the customer service that we recieved here is enough for us to likely come back here instead. We know she would definitely do her best to resolve whatever issue we had if we brought it to her attention!

The Ajax location is definitely not up to par with it's North York, Toronto (College St.) and Scarborough locations. I've been to these other locations several times and have never encountered the same poor service as with Ajax.

First visit on Jan 28, as a group of 4 friends during a slow weekend lunch. We had an issue with ordering the "Sizzling Plate Combo". The menu clearly describes it: A choice of teriyaki rice served with our seafood assortment and the picture on the menu clearly shows it. But we were told that the seafood assortment does not come with the combo despite what menu states. Server, although polite, was misinformed by the owner/mgmt and when we asked to have it double checked, their stance remained the same. We persisted that other locations includes the seafood assortment and was eventually told that it they will give it to us this time only. When the food came, the sizzling platters came with only the rice and chicken. We thought the rest would just come a bit later but when it never came and the server asked, he tells us that it wasn't included after all. We finally told them that if they had been clear and not said they would give it to us, we would have changed our orders completely... after all who would go to a seafood resto and only have chicken?? They finally relented and gave us the seafood assortment but the whole point was to be able to eat the rice with the delicious captain boils sauce. No discount or acknowledgement that they were wrong on any part of the miscommunication/interpretation of menu. We had asked to speak to a manager but he did not come over even though we could see him observing from an unoccupied table.

Second visit a few wks later on Feb 24 was a busy weekend dinner. We got a table as a family of 6 just before it got full. Since only my husband and I that's been here before, we ordered a bit of everything including calamari and sausages as appetizers, 6lbs of seafood in different sauces, Cajun fries and cajun seafood fried rice . Server was friendly and charming, gave me hope that this would be a redemption from my first experience. We told her we wanted the appetizers first and she said she'd try. (I've served in my days and you simply have to hold entering the mains until the apps come...but anyway...) The calamari arrived first and shortly after, the 6 bags of seafood all started to arrive. About halfway our meal, came the sausages but had to be returned due to being frozen cold in the center. Our waitress was noticeably unavailable and we realized that we were her only table in that section which made it very difficult to reach her. We had to keep asking the server from the next table to order us beers and to call our server over. Our server was very apologetic for the frozen app and jokingly offered us free beers to make up for it especially when she learned we were celebrating 2 birthdays that night. The rest of our order never came until we asked about them and while we were almost done our bags of seafood. The fried rice eventually came as an afterthought. When we asked for the bill, we just told her to cancel the sausages and fries from the bill. She agreed to remove them and as we were waiting for the bill, the fries and sausages finally came anyway. With all the issues that night, not once did a manager come to speak to us.

Other locations are definitely worth the drive..skip Ajax and the...

Visited this establishment on June 7, 2018 for the first time. This was by far the worst service and experience I have ever had.

Service was extremely slow despite the fact that the restaurant was NOT full When the orders were taken it took an extremely long time to be served our food and again the restaurant was NOT full/busy. Our party was served at different times. Eating together wasn't an option since many of us were served upwards of 30 minutes after the others Ordered a sangria pitcher and had to remind the server that it was ordered approximately 30 minutes ago. When it finally came it was poorly made. One of the party ordered wings to replace something and they waited at least 20 minutes for the wings. The server had to be asked where they were and then he tried to tell us that because they were busy it was taking a while. He came back with the wings in 2 minutes and they were medium warm - they obviously had been sitting there for a while but he failed to be on top of this. We asked for the Manager to address issues and unfortunately for her we witnessed her kissing her teeth at us because she didn't want to deal. Well....you are the Manager and if you can't handle your role, perhaps you should consider a career change. Witnessed another gentleman complaining to this same manager and her body language and facial expression were so poor it was almost unbelievable. She had a look on her face that said, "I don't care" When we asked for the bill it took at least 20 minutes to get them. Saw people waiting at the door at least 10 minutes to be seated in a restaurant that was nowhere near full.

This was a first and a last for me. If the owner and staff are serious about earning back some of the business they've lost they will take mine and others feedback seriously. There was zero tip left by any of us and if I could rate them a zero I would. Get your act together and maybe...

What a terrible experience! We've brought great family friends that are visiting us from India where we were treated like kings. They were staying in Pickering and we chose the location in Ajax to take them. We usually go to the locations in Toronto, which were always amazing to us! Only three tables in the restaurant and even being almost empty, the service was really slow as the waitresses preferred to chat at the counter while our drinks always ran dry! It's a seafood place an they had no lobster, no clams, no calamari and a good portion of the sides! Why is this place open if you don't have almost half of your seafood menu? We've ordered the Captain's Feast, which is the most expensive combo by the way and we had to choose other items because they didn't have most of it. If we wanted a shrimp basket only, we would've gone to Popeyes! Extremely frustrating but we didn't want to make our guests uncomfortable, so we took what we could get and didn't have time to find another place. The waitress said that they were getting more stuff in about two days, why would you even say something like that? That's really bad management! Service was still slow and the place was empty! The bill comes in and they "stick" a 15% service charge in there even though we were only 6 people, restaurants usually do that when a table has 10 or more, but we didn't notice the 15% service charge and tipped another 10% on top of that (to be honest, they didn't even deserve the 10%). Basically they got over $123.00 tip with the worst service possible and we didn't eat what we wanted. Not fair to the customer! I just want to mention that we only had problems at this location, the ones in Toronto, Etobicoke and area are great and we'll come back for sure! We were frustrated and we felt ripped out as well!
