Went for the Mother's Day Buffet, because the reviews and pics looked good. It ran 4-9 p.m., we got there around 5:30, and the buffet was already pretty bare. We figured more food would be coming out soon (as there were reservations for large groups) so we stuck it out. We each got two wonton (that's all there was), and the last two spring rolls. The fried rice was empty, as was the sweet and sour pork. The battered shrimp was huge, dry, hard chunks of batter. The chicken balls were so dry and hard we couldn't get a fork through them. They did finally refresh the spring rolls, wonton and sweet and sour pork, but there was no rice, shrimp, dumplings, beef and veggies... and the only dessert out was jello and coffee cake. The sweet and sour pork, and the one beef dish were good. Everything else was dry, bland, luke warm or just gone. We didn't leave hungry, but we did leave unsatisfied and sorry we didn't go for sushi in Fernie instead. Servers were nice, the place was clean, and if the food had been refreshed in a timely manner, the rating...
Read moreTraditional Chinese food fare, we had the buffet, buffet is small but hits the main staples for most buffets. We didn't have to wait, our server was so friendly and helpful and very sweet. A+ for service. Buffet was hot and fresh, we arrived when a few dishes were empty but by our second pass everything was restocked and hot. The dessert bar was nice, had some interesting veggie selections as well as traditional fruit and the tiny chocolate cake pieces and nicely cut jello shapes. I'd rate the food as traditional western Chinese, but I found I had to add salt to everything as I do tend to like to cut the sweet sauces a bit with it, that and the dark soy sauce made everything balanced. It was also clean and comfortable seating, traditional Chinese restaurant decor. Washroom was also clean, a telling testimonial to how the kitchen probably is also kept. Overall not bad, and the service is a good reason to...
Read moreI was really looking forward to this. Good reviews and I usually love small town Chinese food. Sadly, this was a let down. We had the dinner for one. I had ginger beef and sweet and sour pork, but they weren’t even mall Chinese food quality. The ginger beef was hard as a rock and coated in a honey like sauce. The sweet and sour pork was marginally better but heavily battered, fried crisp and coated in a thick sweet and sour sauce. The rice was honestly the best part. My wife also had the ginger beef but also had lemon chicken, which again was thick in batter but the lemon was good (but very sweet). My daughter just had a plate of Shanghai noodles, which were actually very good and saved this from a one star review. I think my fortune cookie said it best, “Keep an eye open for and opportunity” (to eat...
