We showed up 2 hours before closing and we were the only table. Upon coming through the door, the restaurant seemed to have the odour of an extreme amount of bleach. Service was quick to start with, but quicker to fade. Utensils were GREASY and seemed smothered in food. She never asked what drinks we wanted and was rude when we asked about the menu. The waitress never checked in on us, until we made the door ring as we went for a smoke break. At which time she booked it out of the kitchen. The food was mediocre at best, however priced accordingly. (cheaper) Will never return and suggest avoiding at all cost.
To owner response We made the effort multiple times by saying "hello" loudly, however that does not change the fact that the owner was sitting right beside us watching videos on her phone, and still, did not make the effort to come over and ask us how everything was going. Not once were we asked how the food was, or if we wanted another beverage. It is not the customers responsibility to ensure the OWNER can provide proper customer service. Truly a shameful example of how a business should run.
ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED
Second response It doesn't really matter what you think you saw on video, what matters is that you didn't respond. I also don't believe publicly arguing with a customer is going to get you a lot of business either. While you were going over the video, I'm sure you also saw yourself serving everyone of us alcohol without checking ID. Even though we all are, and appear to be, under 25. One of us were even just barely 18, and that is in clear violation of the Alberta liquor laws. You are also correct in the fact that communication is the best way to run a business, so I suggest you start working on it. I have read through many of your reviews at this point, and many of them suggest that your service is a huge problem. And seems to have been since you opened. That is really something you should start working on, instead of bombarding customers...

I’m a Chinese Canadian, visiting Blairmore in July long weekend. Choosing this restaurant hoping to enjoy some back-home flavour.
We know what to expect in a westernized Chinese restaurant, but food here still blowed my mind. Salty, oily, over cooked, even sauce is not evenly spreaded. Even my kid asked “why some beef piece is so salty and some has no flavor?”. ‘Sichuan style beef’ tastes the same like another dish ‘stir fried vegetable’. It has nothing to do with ‘Sichuan style’. People from Sichuan province would feel insulted.
Service we received is the worst part:
(1) we asked for hot water because I was having a stomach ache. The owner said “we don’t have it, we have to boil it, Chinese people have a lot of problem, white people only drink cold water”
(2), we asked if the food can be made less salty because we have young kids, owner said “I can’t guarantee, it’s hard to control, here white people like salty food”
(3), we asked for plain steamed rice, owner said “we don’t provide that because white people only eat stirredfry rice”.
(4), at this moment I was very upset with the poor service attitude, but still try to calm down, telling myself maybe that’s just a personality thing, maybe she treats everybody like that. Then a white costumer walked in picking up some food. The owner changed to a completely different person! The warm heart attitude, greeting and laughter sounds like she’s talking to a queen.
(5) feeling discriminated, I decided not to tip. The owner was upset, and made us return the baby high chair to where we helped ourselves find and clean it.
I was about to start a fight, then my wife stopped me, saying “we have 3 young kids, we don’t want trouble”.
I’m a construction worker, I’ve been dealing with harsh language all the time, no problem. But when my wife and kids got involved in this kind of situation, I lost my...
Read moreTried Golden Bowl for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. It was the best Chinese food I've had in a VERY long time. Wow!
The wonton soup was really delicious. The pork tasted like fresh ground pork, not that overly processed stuff you usually find. It was well spiced and the broth was fantastic!
The sweet & sour chicken balls had large pieces of chicken inside with just the right amount of batter and the sauce was the real red stuff I remember from when I was a kid!
The chicken chow main was also very tasty with large pieces of chicken. Lots of beef in my beef & broccoli. The vegetables were a little overcooked for my liking but I'm really picky about that so I will simply ask for them to be cooked a little less next time.
The lady who took my order was also very friendly and kind.
Great food. Great prices. Great service. The perfect trifecta! 👌
Thank you SO much for a delicious dinner!!! We will absolutely be back for takeout...
