It was a holiday weekend, we expected the service to be slow. We were quoted 10-15 minute wait as they needed a spot to open up for our group (4 a, 3 k).
The restaurant was not quite full and we could have pushed together a few tables but they didn't want to seat us in a specific servers area so we waited. Our server was slow to take our drink and food orders, and rude when I asked to substitute the regular chicken fingers for the gross baked ones they have for the kids meals as my kids don't like them. I've never had an issue at any other BP's when I requested the same swap and said so, and she insisted she would have to check but never returned to say yes or no.
Our order mostly arrived in 2 trips over a span of 5 minutes, so half of our table was awkwardly eating while the rest of us waited. Then the order with the chicken fingers was apparently picked up and brought to another table by a different waitress so they had to make a new plate for my 3 year old. She was relatively content to wait as we offered her food from our plates that she would like, and they did bring out the fries for her meal right away.
When the chicken fingers finally arrived, I noticed they were super light in colour, and as I cut it up for my daughter, I noticed why. They were raw inside. Not undercooked, raw. Thawed is more of a better description than even lightly cooked. See photo.
I had to flag down the server who was avoiding eye contact and she blamed it on the kitchen saying that she thought they must have thought we wanted the regular chicken but baked.
I used to work in a kitchen and stuff this this is NOT OKAY. Even if an inexperienced cook made those chicken fingers, not one other cook or even a server noticed how lightly golden the normally fairly dark brown chicken fingers were. Knowing it was for a kid should have sparked SOMEONE to say wait, those don't look right and have them checked.
If my three year old had insisted on her food not being cut up, this could have turned out in a much different manner.
Most of the rest of the food was good, but my steak - visible in the picture - was barely rare, let alone the medium rare I had asked for. When it was time to go, we had to flag down a random employee to ask for to go containers as our server was nowhere to be found.
At one point in the meal, a kids chocolate milk had been placed on our table when no one had ordered it, and it took us over 10 minutes to inform the server. She picked it up, realized it was meant for the next table, and brought it back to the kitchen as far as I know.
I'm glad we don't live in Drumheller so we don't have to consider whether or not we would return, but if are even in town...
Read moreVery disappointing experience even though i came in with very low expectations. Firstly, our server started off great. Smiling, friendly, and gave off a good vibe. She took our drink order and we asked for a round of waters. My friend asked for no ice. She then came back with my caesar and pop for the kids, no water. 5 minutes later, she dropped off water for the kids and asked us adults if we wanted water, we said yes. My friend got ice in her water - She let it go. My husband joined us a few minutes later and ordered a mojito. It took 15 minutes for it to get to the table. After the server took our order, she asked if we would like the kids' meals to come out with our appetizer to which we said yes. Our appetizer came out but no kids meals. 25 mins later, all the entrée came out at the same time except one salad for my friend. We all started eating in hopes that it was on the way. My spaghetti and meatballs was made with tomato sauce instead of bolognese sauce it's supposed to have. The server was quick to bring me the proper sauce. 5 minutes into the meal, we asked the server where the salad is and she said that she will check. She then returned to let us know the kitchen is working on it. We were almost done our food (which we had to grab cutlery for) when she brought the salad out and it had dressing in the salad when my friend ordered dressing on the side. At this point, my friend was over it and said forget it, just take the whole thing back.
The manager later approached us and asked my friend if she would like to get something else or just take the salad off the bill. My friend replied that it was not just one thing, it's been multiple things that has gone wrong. The manager replied that it's the server's first day and she will have a word with her later, rolled her eyes and walked away. We asked for ONE bill. The manager brought over 2 separate bills and said... "we printed the bill with alcohol separate because your server is UNDER AGE. She can't serve liquor." I said to her, she brought our drinks to us! The manager said that she shouldn't have done that and that she will talk to her!
IN WHAT WORLD SHOULD A MINOR BE ALLOWED TO SERVE LIQUOR?! She clearly does not have her proserve because she's a minor and is not educated in AGLC laws and responsible liquor service!!! I've been in the service industry for 16 years and know this is illegal in Alberta. The manager is covering up this activity by putting the alcohol in a separate bill. UNACCEPTABLE, ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, POORLY TRAINED STAFF AND IRRESPONSIBLE LIQUOR SERVICE.
We visited around 1:30pm, 7 guests....
Read moreI rarely write poor reviews when it comes to restaurants (especially during Covid) however I feel today’s service warrants it. Understandably being at half capacity there are sometimes wait times to be seated and the hostess took our phone number to text us when our spot was available from the wait list. She assured us it would be no more than 10 mins. We waited outside for over 25 mins and when my wife went in to check they made an excuse that the text didn’t go through (they wrote down the wrong #) I thought “meh it happens”. When we were seated our waitress took 15 minutes to take our drink order and disappeared for 15 mins before returning with the drinks. Keep in mind at this point the restaurant is less than half full and servers are not moving fast. When she finally brought the drinks, she put a piece of paper on the table with a list of menu items that they couldn’t prepare that day because they were down one oven in the kitchen. The list included nearly half the main and popular items and strangely enough, some items that wouldn’t even require an oven at all to prep. We chose the spinach dip to start and the rest of the order from what was left to order from. Another 10 mins later she returned to tell us that she couldn’t prepare the spinach dip now either and to chose something else. It was another 40 minutes later our food arrives I ordered the Lasagna which they were somehow able to heat up (but not able to heat the spinach dip, Boston brute, chicken parm etc which were taken off the menu because of the oven). My wife ordered the Thai chicken wrap which which was missing the sauce, mayo, cilantro, noodles). The lack of quality control, long wait times, and lack of menu options made for an expensive, long and...
