September 2025 : Pre-Wedding Dinner at The Iron Goat – Outstanding Experience!

We visited The Iron Goat again in September for a pre-wedding dinner with family and friends, and it was absolutely awesome! The entire upper level was reserved, offering a spectacular view of the Rockies and a refreshing fall breeze that made the evening even more special. The food was exceptional — every dish was delicious and beautifully prepared. The bar had a great selection of drinks to suit every palate, and the service was top-notch. A special shoutout to Manager Jess, whom we’ve met several times before — she was once again outstanding! Always warm, attentive, and willing to help with any request. The wait staff were friendly, professional, and made everyone feel welcome. The guests couldn’t stop talking about how wonderful the evening was. Thank you, Jess and the entire Iron Goat team, for your outstanding service, care, and attention to detail. You truly made the celebration memorable!

February 2025 - Our visit to The Iron Gate Pub & Grill in Canmore was nothing short of exceptional. Nestled in the heart of the Rockies, this charming restaurant offers not only a fantastic dining experience but also a breathtaking view that elevates the entire visit. As we arrived, the freshly fallen snow blanketed the towering peaks, creating a picturesque and serene backdrop visible from inside the restaurant. From the moment we stepped in, the hospitality was remarkable. Jess, the manager, set a high standard for customer service, ensuring that we felt welcome and well taken care of. The waitstaff was equally attentive and courteous, making our dining experience seamless and enjoyable. We started with the Bison Carpaccio, served with fresh arugula, extra virgin olive oil, shaved parmesan, capers, and crispy crostini. The bison was perfectly prepared—medium rare and incredibly flavorful. It was a true delicacy that set the tone for the rest of our meal. Next, we tried the Okanagan Flatbread, an incredible combination of pesto, mozzarella, pickled onions, pear, walnuts, gorgonzola, and balsamic reduction. The balance of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors made it an absolute standout. The nachos were another highlight—warm and generously topped with Jack cheese, olives, jalapeños, tomatoes, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa. Every bite was packed with bold flavors, making it a great choice for sharing.

For drinks, we enjoyed a local light pale ale, which was smooth, crisp, and refreshing. We also tried their mocktails—the peach bellini and red sangria—both of which were fruity, well-balanced, and incredibly refreshing.

Beyond the fantastic food and drinks, the ambiance of The Iron Gate Pub & Grill was simply outstanding. The rustic décor, paired with the stunning view of the Rockies, made for a truly unforgettable experience. Dining here felt like more than just a meal—it was an experience in itself. This was our first visit, and it certainly won’t be our last. If you’re looking for a restaurant that offers delicious food, warm hospitality, and a view that takes your breath away, The Iron Gate Pub & Grill is the place to be. Highly...

I had the pleasure of dealing with Angelo for almost the better part of a year to host my wedding dinner at Iron Goat. I visited once to meet him and go through a couple things, and the rest was already done for me. I have visited here previously over the years for lunch, brunch and an anniversary dinner. I don’t even know where to start.

We had worries of guests attending that can barely walk, and he allowed us to use the service elevator to get our elderly visitors and grandparents up to the loft in this manner. This was exceptional and made a difference for if some people could attend the dinner or not. The menu, we worked on together, no stress and he let me pick whatever I wanted and let me know pricing. He created and printed the menus for me! The kids had their own specific meals served and the plating was gorgeous, even for the kids.

Seating plan, like he’s done this many times before, perfect layout and he did it effortlessly. Minimal set up for my maid of honour and bridesmaid.

Cake was refrigerated and set up before arrival. He was very accommodating as to when it could be delivered to the restaurant.

The entire process of dealing with Angelo was a breeze. He was wonderful. No drama, no stress. He was incredibly accommodating with everything. He is a wonderfully friendly person that did great with anyone he came into contact with. He made accommodations for allergies and dietary restrictions. He had wonderful suggestions like “Hey, the burgers take a little longer just so you know, so the food comes out a little differently for timing”. Things like that where he knows the smallest of details that made a difference in our plan. He answered questions with ease. He also knew how budget minded I was, trying to do a small wedding on a very tight budget, and he was so willing to work with me and ensure I knew the costs of things. There were no hidden fees or surprises. The service was phenomenal. I heard many times how great the service was, how friendly everyone was, and how excellent each dish tasted. Kudos to the waitresses, waiters and chef for their involvement. I would over and over again direct anyone to this place for a simple meal or to host their wedding party here - I am so happy I chose this location. Gorgeous little spot with exceptional views and amazing energy inside of it!...

Review from night of - Saturday 5 December 2020 Staff were friendly and attentive. Interior and location are great, has a great cabin / mountain feel to it. I tipped 15% purely for the waiters, NOT for the chef!

The main reason for the low low rating which is very disappointing, and would have taken maximum 1-2 minutes to rectify by the chef. The food (starters & main) came promptly and we were not left waiting for long which was great, despite lockdown. We started with the southern deep fried Mushrooms which were very nice. However, from here it went completely downhill as the turkey was dry, worryingly sections of the turkey were actually refrigerator cold, another section hot, and another section room temperature. These were not thick pieces of meat or overly large cuts so the large difference in temperature are very concerning. And on reflection I do not think these pieces of meat would’ve passed food safety standards. Moving onto the cranberry sauce that also was extremely cold which is fine if the meat had been hot it would’ve complimented nicely. The roasted vegetables unfortunately, tasted like they were roasted however again a complete mix in temperature from refrigerator cold to been warm and edible. The cornbread was enjoyable however, I am not a connoisseur of cornbread so I’m not the best person to decide on what makes good cornbread ha ha ha. And the mash potato was out of this world which was truly the highlight of the meal which was very unfortunate as it was the only thing on the play that was hot.

My partner had the lamb burger and she said she would happily go back again however for $30 plate to come out cold I don’t think I could go back there despite it being a great location and the staff been friendly. I really hope the management can speak with the chef and ensure his work is more appropriate as he could potentially make somebody very ill which I was concerned I may have been the following day. Typically if something is not to my liking I would let the way to know however when there are so many things wrong with the dish I think it’s worth cutting your losses sometimes and not ruining the evening for you and your...

We had THE BEST experience with Iron Goat! We were planning on getting married in the Rockies and bringing a group of our family and friends with us (26 people total). I reached out to SO many places in Banff and Canmore looking for somewhere to have dinner (in place of a traditional reception) to no avail until I found Iron Goat. We had a ceremony out along the shore of Emerald Lake, enjoyed some canoeing and bear sightings, and then returned to town for dinner at Iron Goat. Michael, one of the managers, was SO easy to work with from the first time I reached out to him, even arranging several FaceTime calls so we could see the space. This was the first and only place I found that wasn't going to charge a huge fee to have a large dinner party since it was associated with a "wedding." PROS: beautiful view, the food was AMAZING - everyone was able to order whatever they wanted off the menu instead of having a set menu to choose from and EVERYONE loved their meals, so much so that several of us returned a few nights later to have it again! The service (shout out to Will, such a great spirit to have around us for our celebration!) was on point - we were a big party and no one was ever left waiting. From appetizers (the bruschetta, duck wings, and corn bread were so good!) to entrees (best salmon I've ever had and hubby LOVED the bison & elk burger) to the drinks (beers, margaritas, wines - you name it!) everything was great. We had the whole upstairs outdoor patio area to ourselves and were allowed to bring in table decorations and even cake and cupcakes from an outside bakery. The space was just big enough for us. We spent the evening eating, drinking, playing games, and even dancing after the sun went down. Everyone talked about what a great time they had and what a great spot we chose. CONS: NONE, except that it is over and we live far away! Can't thank the Iron Goat team enough for a perfect evening! We'll see you again for our anniversary!
