Bob's Pizza and Shawarma — Restaurant in Amherst

Decided to give this place a try based on good reviews and the fact that we didn’t want to make the drive across the marsh to Jack’s in Sackville. BIG mistake. We only ordered a donair and I knew, as soon as I picked up the wrapped donair and it was so small and lightweight in my hand, that we’d made a poor choice. But it was bad in every way. First off, we ordered extra meat but it wasn’t added on - we weren’t charged for it - but Bob argued that we hadn’t asked for extra meat. Yeah, we had. The donair itself had barely any meat, but what it did have was dry and tasteless. It was drowning in a watery thin and overly sweet donair sauce which made the unheated pita tough and chewy. The donair was also smothered in big chunks of onion that probably amounted to half a small onion. And, despite ordering it, picking it up and taking it home in under ten minutes, it was cold. Even though it was a couple hours before closing time, I don’t think the grill was on because they weren’t preparing another single customer’s order - now I understand why. Overall, it was a poorly slapped together and skimpy excuse...

I won’t be back. Terrible customer service. Tonight I ordered a 16 inch pizza and 12 inch garlic fingers/donair sauce and two cans of pop. $50. While waiting, I saw they had a special on for $30 (16 inch 4topping pizza 12 inch garlic fingers and 2litres) and wonder why she didn’t mention the special!! … When my order is done I don’t see the donair sauce and ask the woman where it is. She scoffs at me says it is in the box. I drive all the way home… open up the box… no sauce… I am beyond livid. My husband comes home and I explain what happened… he drives back and asks for the donair sauce and why she didn’t mention the special to save us $20… she was rude to him and says I obviously wanted the extra toppings. Owner is friendly and easy to talk to. It's a small place but that's all it needs to be for right now. Ihad two slices and a pop that came to 10.00 which is pretty standard.
