The atmosphere is really nice. It's a newer place and it's decorated beautifully. They offer a lot of baked bread and pastries that are quite good. Espresso drinks are decently made, and they have a nice tea selection. The only complaint I had was that the service wasn't the best. The person who served us at the till did their job adequately, but you pay before you sit as this is a cafe, and apparently, whether you tip or not seems to determine the service you get. (We are now in the habit of tipping at the end of our restaurant visits and with cash) There was immediate discussion of this after paying with the other employee ( dont think we were meant to see). I'm not totally sure what we are tipping for at this place. There were no clean tables. We sat at a dirty one. We got our own water and picked up our drinks from the counter. We sat around the corner and didn't hear our drinks being called, and so they sat there for a bit. We weren't called again. We cleaned our own dishes from our table. The prices are slightly high, which seems normal for being on an island and we spent money there on 2 different occasions which is a lot for us as a family of 5. This time, we ordered half portions and shared food as well as drinks, and it was still $100. Seems like unless you tip you aren't going to receive even basic...
Read moreAnother Wow 🤩 what a hit Quadra island is! From the moment we stepped in the door of this lovely cafe we were welcomed as old friends. The service was so good, had great coffee too, but the star was most definitely the pancakes. Great sized portion really light and fluffy. Delicious. We also were discussing buying the bags of cookies when another customer overheard us and asked if we would like to try one of hers that she had just bought. How lovely. Well they were delicious and as you can see from the photo we bought them. A brilliant experience and highly recommended.
2025 update. We came back and visited here three more times on our four day stay. Had The Plate which was an excellent breakfast and I bought the Havaa Chocolate cookies and the coffee beans too. Excellent service and vibe. Highly...
Read moreNot sure if it was just a one off because I have heard nothing but good things. But the eggs benedict should not be on the menu if you can't serve it with runny yolks (or serve the right meal at all). I ordered the regular benny and asked for it soft poached and it was basically a hard boiled egg and was served to me on salmon with capers. Sent it back and was returned as a the normal eggs benedict I ordered but the egg still had the capers on it telling me they just put the old eggs on the new benny. So now I have stone cold hard boiled eggs benedict. Stood in line waiting for a while to be told that thats just how they make the food and I can't get my eggs soft or medium. Nobody was interested in remaking my meal so was offered a refund. At least I got my money back from...
