This place is fancy restaurant prices from a food truck run by people who are probably drunk. We wanted water, but they only have bottled water which is an unexpected added expense. No kids options. They gave us our chips and salsa with no side plates, so we are all just had to pass the basket around, which was kind of awkward for a party of six. Then, we added guacamole, which came in a tiny ramekin for four dollars, and if you want a different kind of salsa other than pico it’s an up charge. 40 minutes later, we finally get our food. One person’s burrito was completely messed up. Wrong salsa, and a bunch of things added that he specifically requested not to be added. My soup for $10 came in a paper bowl covered in mayo from someone else’s dish. Another persons burrito salad came with a spoon. The waitress did not come to check on us once. Grossly disappointing experience.

The food is not worth your time or money. The only plus is the aesthetic and atmosphere. We walked in because it seemed like a cute little place to go and grab a bite. The food was very bland little to no authentic Mexican flavouring. The “beef burrito” was plain roast beef with some plain beans and lettuce. Where was the spices and flavour? I was flabbergasted. The cheese wasn’t melt the wrap was still cold and smelt of the basic wheat wraps you can buy yourself at the grocery store. The burrito was very reminiscent of an overpriced quick bite you’d grab at an airport or a readymade food isle. The food and flavour needs updating. But 1 star because it looks cool.

The “All Bean” tacos are the best vegan tacos I’ve had, very authentic with so much flavour and variety in the taco! The tortillas are hand made so they did fall apart easily but aside from that 10/10! The tortilla chips and salsa was really authentic. You can tell the chips are homemade, tasty, fresh and crispy! The salsa had great flavour and was fresh tasting! The margarita was tasty! Definitely more of the sweet side but a good splurge! It has a slushy consistency which I really enjoyed! Bonus points the glass is adorable! Bonus points the ambiance of the restaurant was amazing and our server was very pleasant!

If you listen to anything I say in this review read this. DO NOT GO HERE! Could not have had a worse experience. My girlfriend and I were on our way back from Tofino during the most recent heat wave. We decided to grab a quick bite and check out Goats on the Roof but when we arrived here it was all downhill.

After getting to the restaurant we waited over 20 minutes just to have a server acknowledge us. After the group in front of us got tired of waiting I was able to wave down a passing server, who for the past 10 minutes had not been doing anything but walking around aimlessly. After being seated with menus thrown in front of us we again were forced to wait another 15 minutes to have anyone come over. During that time the bartender/server continually stared at us while quite loudly complaining about us to their supervisor about us being seated, this was also around 4 o'clock a full hour before they close. Finally, the supervisor came over without us asking and told us that it would be at least 15 minutes before we could even make an order, the restaurant was practically empty with only about 5 or 6 tables there, all of which had some if not all their food already, and with 4 servers in total, more then enough for the few tables that had people. After hearing that we would be waiting even longer we asked for 2 glasses of water only to be offered bottles, which after asking we would need to pay for! Both my girlfriend and I work in the industry and were appalled by the service here in addition to their blatant disregard for informing customer of what was complimentary and what was paid. Eventually, the same rude bartender arrived at our table clearly annoyed that we were seated at all and continued to take our order by saying, "what do you want?", "okay. Is that it?" both hungry after over an hour of waiting to be helped, we watched the servers complain loudly and even refuse to sit customers waiting outside for ages. After waiting another 20 minutes we finally got fed up with everything despite being starving and walked out only to be reprimanded by the supervisor for going out the wrong way. In the end we went to the small cafe and ice cream place across the way where despite an extremely long line up were helped and served quickly and politely. If I could give a 0 star rating I would but hopefully you do not go here, and to those of you who...

The food truck wasn't set up yet, though Google Maps didn't know this so, after a bit of a mix up, we finally found it- at the very back of the market!! The food was good (not awesome) & fresh but we waited quite a long time... Many who came after us got their meals way before us. Then, my order came but AJ's didn't- they'd run out of the meat she'd ordered. It turned out to be a disappointing lunch. We love the market & had expected much more. It filled a hole.... Because we do enjoy the market, we'll try the canteena again with fingers crossed.

  • Beware there is NO accessible entrance to the ordering section of the canteena. Unless you can manage a few stairs, you'll need to send someone up to order for you as there is no table service (they'll bring your orders to your table but not take your order there).

Coombs Market has a bit of work to do regarding full...
