A Christmas Brew in Lac La Hache: The Dirty Chai Revelation

Scene: Christmas morning. Snow-covered roads. Absolute stillness. And then—BOOM—two blazing OPEN signs scream out like Rudolph leading a caffeine-fueled sleigh.

I step inside, expecting disappointment. I mean, who’s working on Christmas Day in Lac La Hache? Enter: the gent from Cambridge. And let me tell you, this guy doesn’t just open the door—he opens a whole new world.

Dirty chai in hand, and it’s a bloody revelation. The spice? Perfect. The froth? Velvety. The warmth? Like sitting by a roaring fire in a posh Cambridge pub. But wait—he’s not done. The guy turns around and whips up a coffee crème to-go that’s so silky it could make angels weep.

This isn’t just coffee; this is craftsmanship. The passion, the precision—he’s a one-man orchestra, and I’m the lucky sod in the front row. Forget Lac La Hache—this bloke should be running the coffee capital of the world.

Verdict: Lac La Hache, you’ve struck gold. Cambridge, you should be in mourning. And me? I’m now spoiled for life. Hats off, mate. Bravo. Now someone get me a reservation at this bloke’s...

In my opinion this cafe has some of the best coffee I’ve tried in all my travels and I’m blessed to live an hour away. I keep on coming back because it’s consistently great coffee. If you like Frapaccinos from Starbucks (in my opinion inferior coffee and I never go there) then you’ll love their “Crakaccinos”! I’m an espresso coffee addict when I travel and I really enjoy trying new cafes wherever I go and only come back to the exceptional ones. Q-Brew is on my exceptional coffee list. As an example, this week I visited over 20 cafes on a week trip to the Kootenays. Earlier this year I visited 34 different cafes on the Sunshine Coast and I could say that only 3 were worth visiting more than once. Last year while travelling Europe for 2 months (15 countries, over 17,000 kms) I visited 2-4 different (high-rated) cafes every day along the way. You do the math. Q-brew competes with some of the best Italian cafes I visited (in my opinion of course) and I’ve heard similar testimonies from others. Thanks...

We are Americans traveling down BC and just about when we started wanting some afternoon coffee to get us to our hotel, we saw this place and turned in SO fast. The owner was lovely and welcoming and we had a lovely chat while she made our drinks. My husband had the mocha chili latte and I had the London Fog. It was the best London Fog I have EVER had by a lot. Everything in this little shop is made with love, including the beautiful silver artisan jewelry and freeze dried candy. If you are traveling through and it’s open, trust me and just stop. Support a local business and be met with hospitality and delicious drinks. There was also a precious little dog and my kids soaked up some puppy love before we had to get back in the car :). This little stop was definitely worth arriving late to...

Super cool little coffee shop that you got to stop at when you're driving through. Definitely check it out, Sheila who's the owner is super nice. Also has some different things for sale like some homemade jewelry and some other items that look to be locally made. I always enjoy little unique places like this when traveling, so if you're a huge fan of local little places when you're on a road trip, definitely make sure you stop by. You'll absolutely love it. This was The first time stopping here and I'll definitely make sure I stop here more often when I'm driving through. It's a little places like this that you definitely want to see more of along the way.
