We ordered Jim's Bacon Cheeseburger which was really quite good. The patty is fresh ground beef which was well seasoned, simple toppings, on a fresh bun. The fries seemed to be fresh cut also, these were a little under seasoned but easily fixed by adding your own shake of salt. We had a side of gravy which was quite good too. (There are other hamburgers on the menu, these are cooked from frozen, I'd recommend getting the Jim's hamburger over the other one) The service was good, they were friendly and helpful. Everything arrived at our table quickly and hot with a smile from our friendly server. Jim's Restaurant will deliver on a classic diner experience if you are looking for that. The front to the restaurant is set up with a bunch of booths in sight of the kitchen and the front counter. It looks like there is extra seating at the back with tables and chairs. You can hear the kitchen staff working and servers bringing up orders. Overall a good experience, there are not many restaurants like this anymore. The price vs portion size is great, you get good value for your money here. We will be going back for sure. Next time to try the cheesecake, we have heard very good things about it and I...
Read moreMy wife and I did a day-trip to Arnprior and we had a wonderful early dinner at Jim's Restaurant.
The restaurant venue is spacious and gives the vibe of a mid-20th century diner in the best tradition of that term.
We felt that the prices were absolutely amazing and affordable. In 2025, while the prices for everything skyrocket, dinners at this restaurant are a delicious bargain.
Our server was attentive, and the portions sizes are generous.
Most of all, it is the quality of the food we had: it felt like something either made at home or at a family-run restaurant in bygone times.
The minestrone soup was hearty; and the main courses were delicious. My wife's fried fish dish came with a side of real mashed potatoes; and my hamburger and fries were most satisfying. As the server informed us, the Jim's Hamburger patty was made from meat that had never been frozen -- again, high quality at an extremely affordable price.
And then, the made-in-house rice pudding. I could justify the drive to Arnprior just for that yummy dessert...
I am sure that the locals know how great Jim's Restaurant is. I know that I will aim to come...

We lived around these parts for 15+ years and have been to Jim’s for breakfast 100 times or more. Good value, portions, service, atmosphere etc… We had never been here for lunch, for some reason, till yesterday.
I had the hot Hamburg and my wife the hot turkey meal (incl soup and desert). The veg soup was little more than a bunch of frozen veg floating in tomato juice. Bad start. My hot Hamburg came complete with a burnt patty topped with a disgusting dark, thick and incredibly salty gravy, water logged frozen corn, and lousy mashed potatoes. My wife had the exact same slop except the beef was replaced by turkey. Now, it takes a lot for my wife to say anything bad about anything. But, she did call this “the worst hot turkey sandwich I have ever had”. That sums it up well.
We don’t live in the area anymore so we’re not likely to come back here but, as I said, stick to breakfast and you’ll come...
