Del Zotto Butcher Shop — Restaurant in Barrie

I have bought over 1200 in meat from this shop in 4 months. First order I got, I was pretty much pleased with. Lean burgers 3pks of 4, steaks were good, etc. A couple minor complaints like ground beef prepacked in 2.5 lb, and brownish looking. Like previously frozen. Sausages previously frozen. 2nd order was last month...burgers were 2 pks of 4, my ground beef was frozen and looked like it came out of bottom of the freezer. When I cooked a package of ground beef there was over 1 1/2 cups of grease that came off of 1 1/2 lbs. I just pulled burgers out last night...they are not lean beef, more like pork burgers with a bit of beef. My grill was like a bonfire trying to cook them on low. There is lack of consistancy with their package deals. 1st time marinated wing, 2nd time not. Kebobs different both times. Sausages different both times. Seems like the bottom of the display chest and freezer is what is put in the order. I would order pkgs all the time if they had consistency in product portion and quality. Extremely annoyed with my ground beef and "burgers". I wonder if they are purchasing their so called ground beef in China town, my boss use to get his meat for burgers for restaurant there, it was labeled meat and grey looking, no blood or red colour to it and very fatty. Cannot even use what I have left, what a waste. I travel 45 minutes to pick up these meats in Barrie, I'm not going all the way back to return. If their sales are just to clear older product they need to state that in their ads. Being a butcher shop their entire order should be packed fresh that day, not previously portioned and/or frozen. Look at the pic and tell me that's beef...no blood when defrosted and mostly grey meat. I'll be looking for a...

Constancy is not there. I am unsure if there has been a change in ownership over the past few months but when they first opened it was my go-to place. Unfortunately that has recently changed. I have been disappointed on multiple occasions...

I purchased pre marinated spoiled chicken from them and didn't realize until it was cooked as it's hard to tell when there is a sauce on it. I pre ordered 20 top sirloin steaks and they tried to charge me $6/lb more per pound than the actual price until I said something. Not to mention when I ordered them they asked me to call back and confirm with them in an hour? Then never answer the phone and when I showed up to pick up the order they did not have it started. I pre ordered 40 pre cut pork cutlets. Thankfully I asked to see them before I left as I was very specific with the size I asked and they made them double the size, as well as half the cutlets were more fat than meat. I ended up only taking 20/40 that I had originally wanted. I just went back in to get 2 thinly cut top sirloin steaks which I got that last week as well for $14.00. This week it cost $30.00. Just keep getting more and more disappointed.

I hate leaving bad reviews on shops but my experience here was terrible.

EDIT After looking to into recent food inspections. They have failed almost every time…. Still have an outstanding infraction with refrigeration. Please avoid this place at all costs.

Bought pork ribs and once I opened the package it was rancid. Rushed back to the store and told him the issue. They insisted I get a fresh pack but that one smelt terrible also. Maybe it was a suppler issue but I don’t believe so… I just wanted to leave and get a refund. He insisted to make it right. Refunded and gave me a free steak for my time. Still unacceptable. After looking at most of the tickets on pre-packed meats. None have dates… they need to manage inventory better. Owner was nice but man behind counter laughed.
