Pür & Simple — Restaurant in Bathurst

To preface, I usually love Pur and Simple. It’s got incredible food, lovely drinks, and a fun atmosphere. But on a cold January 28th, something had changed.

Let me set the scene; A group of 14 of us wanted to get breakfast. Since food comes before socialization we understood that we all wouldn’t be sitting next to each other, but that’s okay! We were hungry.

We could not get a hostesses attention to save our lives. When we did, and asked if there were 2 tables for 7, we were told no. No matter if we had to wait, or anything, just no. We then asked if we could get some tables for 4, spread about the restaurant. No. They refused to seat us in every way possible, and the hostess was visibly angry when we tried to come up with anyway to provide 14 people’s worth of breakfast money to the establishment. With our heads high, we instead went to another restaurant that sat 2 tables for 7 with a smile on their face and their card machines full. And it was even my birthday. Our breakfasts were tasty. I liked that there were a lot of vegetarian items on the menu. They offer keto and GF options as well.

Disappointed that our fresh squeezed orange juices were cut with water :( They had an orangy taste but it was quite clearly watered down.

My $15 smoothie bowl was a soup and the fresh blueberries on top were old and wrinkly. Had to return it. Smoothie bowls are supposed to be thick like a frozen yogurt so you can eat them with a spoon and mix in your toppings. Mine needed to be drunk with a straw. My daughters actual smoothie drink was thicker than my smoothie bowl.

My huevos rancheros came with lots of toppings which was great. Unfortunately they were also heavy handed with the Sirachia hot sauce (and I love hot sauce!)

Had brunch here and the experience was top notch! I have to say our waitress was one of the best I have ever had, she was sure a breath of fresh air. We didn’t get her name but she did say she was heading back to university and she was from Neguac! They will sure miss her she is a doll.

Restaurant was full and not one employee seemed overwhelmed at all, they all appeared happy to be at work. Restaurant was very clean, even the washroom.
