We live in Hamilton and lately we have been coming to Brantford for something different. Since we are close to the highway, going to Brantford is not an issue. Well, my husband was wanting something meaty and smoked so I did some googling and review reading. Fortunately, I came across Crazy Canuck Smokehouse! Firstly, I have to say, this is a hidden jewel of restaurant because months ago, we have parked on the street right beside this restaurant while visiting the bike shop across the street and didn't even know that this was a smokehouse restaurant otherwise we would have come sooner! The restaurant itself is so clean, bright, beautifully decorated with a real wood log partitioned wall at the entrance including a quaint seating and a bar area. We love smoked meats, own a smoker, as well as smoke meat a lot at home. But we still love to have restaurant quality smoked meat. We love others cooking for us when we have had a busy day. Lol We are very critical about our smoked meats and this establishment has met our expectations full stop!! We ordered the Vegetarian Nightmare which was plenty for my husband and I to share as per the owners recommendation. Although, if we had ordered 2, we could have polished both off no problem as it was so incredibly delicious!! We substituted the pulled pork for brisket for an upcharge and ordered pulled pork poutine because my husband was feeling poutine as well as all the other meats.Lol The gentleman owner was very welcoming and attentive by greeting us as soon as we entered the establishment. The young lady who served us, assuming also the owner was very cordial, dedicated, warm and informative giving us lots of advice on our orders. Now the food review...the ribs were perfectly smoked, carmelized with a delicious sauce which also fell right off the bone leaving no meat pieces behind...the brisket smoked to perfection as well as very mouth watering..the chicken(chicken leg) was good but on the drier side..the sides, beans were very flavourful, coleslaw was ok, not my favorite but it was ok, the horseradish was so tasty and I don't eat horseradish lol...pulled pork poutine was yummy and also a great choice although it was forgotten to be added to the dish initially but was quickly corrected, just the portion was smaller than we expected for the price. This place needs a better sign on the building because it can be easily missed and you do not want to miss out eating here!! Thank you for a wonderful first visit! I hope my review brings you more customers as you well...
Read moreI came here for the first time today on Father's Day 2025, people were stopping in every 10 or 15 minutes to get their take out orders and they were all in and out in no time. Meanwhile, the staff was friendly and patient with our party being first time guests and they did a great job helping us through the questions we had about the menu.
The chicken wings were well done and the buffalo chicken sauce was very good.
The macaroni and cheese was quite tasty and very filling.
Our group shared some of their beef brisket and pulled pork as well. The brisket had a nice dark crust that didn't taste burnt at all with a deep smoke ring that was clear evidence of the deep smokey flavour in the very moist and super tender beef that came in every bite. The pulled pork followed suit with fantastic smokey flavour and tenderness while still being very succulent and the sauce on top didn't seem very spicy at all.
We also had some of their delicious cornbread muffins. They were the sweet kind of cornbread that isn't always easy to find without being so tender that it fell apart when you cut them open and try to eat them
I went with the mushroom and swiss burger with fries as my side; the burger was hand made and seasoned just right to let the taste of the beef come through as much as the well cooked mushrooms and swiss cheese and the bun was soft and slightly sweet which helped offset the savory flavours of the rest of the burger. The french fries looked like they were cut on site from whole potatoes with the skin on and had that fluffy interior that you don't always get with crisp fries and they had just enough salt on them that you could taste it was there without being...
Read moreThere are only a couple of authentic BBQ houses in the Brantford area. This is one of them. We ordered a spread of items off the menu to get a well rounded idea of what the overall flavor and quality of this place would be. So lets get into it. The chicken wings were amazing, very flavorful, super crispy but not over cooked so they were nice and juicy . The size of the wings were mid size. The Mac and cheese was good, had a unique but delicious garlic spice mix. The pulled pork was some of the best Iv had, very tender, pretty much melted in my mouth. The sauce was sweet and zesty and I honestly wish I ordered a bigger potion. It was that good. The brisket chili was pretty good, maybe a bit lack luster for me, kinda small on the portion size and a bit to watery but still very Harty and flavorful. It was still a great bowl of chili. The beans were good and had their own unique twist that punched up the flavor profile. The corn bread was second to none, warm, light, fluffy, corn bready goodness. We will be back to try the ribs next time I'm craving BBQ. This place is definitely worth checking out and is on my hit list. 👌 Me and my wife were really satisfied with the quality, flavor, fresh ingredients and the staffs friendly service. The price vs portion category is tricky here because the price is good for the portion you get however if you have a big appetite you'll have to be sure to upsize your order. I thought what I ordered would be enough to fill me up and I didn't want to add on to my order half way through eating so l left still a bit hungry. Everything else hit the mark. I will definitely be back as a...
