The Sunnyside Grill in Brantford has been here for a total of one year and 3 months as confirmed by my server this morning - first visit.
Where do I start?
I can go out fairly regularly sometimes for breakfast, and then not go out to actually dine in for two to three weeks, maybe picking up Breakfast Oatmeal at my local Timmies - and no, not all locations make their oatmeal the same (Hamilton - yuck).
Anyway, MY COMPLAINT: THE COFFEE IS ACTUALLY HORRIBLE TASTING! Not even "average/okay" - way below average. And, I confirmed the pot had been sitting "warming" for a good hour - at least so I was told. Brand used by this franchise is: Mother Parkers - ugh. And, for a whopping high price of $2.59 (generally, on average elsewhere for $1.99 to maybe $2.39), and so my breakfast special was $6.49, and my bill totalled over $10.00.
Now, I don't mind paying over $10.00 for breakfast or even more - if it's a good breakfast and to me, a good breakfast includes a decent, good cup of coffee.
I got a refill, after my first cup was not quite emptied, and I asked about the coffee - or inquired. The second cup tasted even worse to me, and I only had a couple more small sips, and I left it. Strong, bitter, with an after taste. I literally could smell a distinctness to the cup as I put it up to my lips to drink it - almost giving you the idea it perhaps turned more bitter-tasting having sat for too long - as some pots of coffee will. Obviously, I don't believe they have the fresh 20-minute rule like Tim Hortons, although, I don't see that Tim Hortons would ordinarily have to worry about that very often.
Many other places to choose from in Brantford for a breakfast dining experience. I finally got around to trying this place. Unfortunately, it sits in a small corner plaza location (on one of our main drags/arteries in Brantford, but that unit just has a history of constant turnover - all previous restaurant establishments of one kind or another that haven't survived.
This place is not going to last either and be any different. When I walked in on a Friday morning - about 8:30'ish I was the only customer. Wait staff consisted...
Read moreI've never submitted a review on Google, but I have to share my first experience at this place. We walked in, not busy, told pick where we would like, Ordered our individual dishes and waited a short time for our food. Which was lovely! I ordered a breakfast sandwich that said two eggs on it. When I received it, it appeared to only have 1 small layer of egg. So, we inquired about that. The waitress spoke with the cook, she came back and said that there was two eggs on there, they are just "small" but they will put another egg on the grill for me (didnt mention anything about there being extra cost for it) .. I received my egg quickly (thank you to the cook) the egg was the exact same size as the one on my sandwich. So it definitely wasn't two to begin with, but thats besides the point. When we got our bill, I was charged for the extra egg. The waitress should have told me they would be charging me for that egg before they put it on the grill, I would have said no. We had to ask for drink refills, shouldn't have to ask.
The reason im writing the situation is this, as we were leaving this waitress discovers she was not tipped (rightfully so) and says out loud in obvious anger front of everyone, "they were really upset about that egg" .... LISTEN lady,
No one is obligated to tip you. anything EXTRA is earned. Which you didnt. How unprofessional can one be? If your that RELIANT on tips, maybe switch your day job. It's NOT my job to feed you. Her name is "Dani"

Read moreHorrible experience. I went for breakfast with my sisters and our kids, the wait was quite long to begin with but wasn’t too concerned because I was hopeful we would enjoy it once it came. We all ordered eggs Benedict and asked for the eggs to be soft poached and two out of the 3 orders eggs were hard and there was a hair in my home fries. I know these things happen but the way it was handled by a woman named Lisa (who I am guessing is the manager) was just awful. She came to our table very rudely and said “who sent back their meal”, I said it was mine (thinking she came to apologize and let me know a new order would be made right away) but instead she said “well your going to have to wait, there are 6 orders ahead of you” I told her don’t worry about it. By that point I did not want to wait when everyone else was almost done their food. She acted as if I had done something wrong by sending back a breakfast with a hair and wrong eggs. Everyone eating around us noticed and commented how rude that was, especially seeing we had young kids there and she was going to make us wait. All and all everyone’s food seemed good, and the kids enjoyed their pancakes, it was just poorly handled I have never had an experience where they wouldn’t have apologized and said we are so sorry about that we’ll have another one made for you right away. When another staff member mentioned the situation she denied her behavior and said she didn’t say any of that. Would not eat there again or...
