It's been years since I was last at El Comal. Located in an out-of-the-way industrial complex, it's a bit of a hidden gem. I think they are more geared for commercial but they do have a counter where you can order some food and basic tables where you can eat. Most of the patrons during our visit seemed to be from the nearby construction. Ordered the beef sopes ($8.99). I don't see this dish very often but I do enjoy it. Don't make any mistake, it's impossible to eat this without getting food all over your face cause they pile it high. Also ordered some tacos: carnita, pork, chicken ($15.9) but it seems they messed up our order and didn't give us the right toppings. Worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood but don't expect much service.

I am so happy to have found this place. Their food is fresh, flavourful, and reasonably priced. The staff are also friendly and patient with new customers. They have a great selection of products which you can take home with you like queso fresco, salsa, tomatillo salsa, frozen tortillas and tamales. I didn't get to check out their entire selection as I was in a bit of a rush. But I will be coming here for lunch, groceries and to pick up snacks when I am expecting guests. If you haven't been, I strongly encourage you to come check out this place!

Many years ago this place had fantastic takeaway and good food. Decided to give it a try after many years, the food is decent. I ordered a burrito combo with rice and beans, the beef burrito was okay, personally liked the churri sauce on the side it was well balanced. The beans and rice could use a bit of work, a bit off par. Decent food at a reasonable price, although hard to get to due to construction on Winston road. 3/5 stars.

Authentic Mexican Flavours at Their Best!

El Comal is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants in Vancouver! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and the incredible aroma of freshly prepared dishes. Their buffet is a true delight, offering a wide variety of authentic Mexican dishes that instantly transport you back to Mexico.

Every bite is bursting with flavour, the kind you’d expect from homemade recipes passed down through generations. The salsas are perfectly balanced, the tortillas are fresh, and the dishes are so rich and satisfying that it’s hard not to go back for seconds (or thirds!). The aguas frescas are absolutely refreshing, with vibrant, natural flavours that perfectly complement the meal. And don’t even get me started on the traditional desserts! From flan to arroz con leche, every option is a sweet taste of Mexico that leaves you wanting more.

What sets El Comal apart is how they stay true to the traditional flavours of Mexican cuisine. It’s not just food; it’s an experience that reminds you of the warmth and vibrancy of Mexican culture. Whether you’re craving tacos, tamales, or some hearty pozole, you’ll find it here, and it will exceed your expectations.

If you’re in Vancouver and looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience, El Comal is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended for anyone who loves great food and even...

0 STARS IF I COULD The idea of the food is delicious. Sadly the owner and the assistant manager are the worst. I have know ppl (5 staff ) that work there that have been mistreated. The owner Elsa, has denied her staff letter of recommendation towards immigration purposes, house rental, loans, etc. Instead of helping her fellow Mexican she does the opposite. In 2016, her kitchen closed due to the unclean facility, and the Food and health inspector didnt approve of that unsafe place. There are better places where yo can order tortillas from, and def better places to have mexican food with a CLEAN, SANITIZED KITCHEN. Please do not work here ever!!1 you'll regret it. and stop supporting a business where the owner and manager abuse of their power towards...
