Tonight, we decided to try this Italian restaurant for the first time and ordered two pizzas with high hopes for an authentic experience. Unfortunately, what we received was far from it.
Letâs start with the crustâone of the most basic yet essential elements of a true Italian pizza. Instead of a crisp, airy, wood-fired crust, we got something soggy, pale, and undercooked. The dough was bland and lacked any of the rustic, yeasty depth youâd expect from a hand-tossed Italian pizza. It felt rushed and unbalanced, more like a microwaved flatbread than a proper base.
The toppings were just as problematic. Not only were they haphazardly scattered across the pizzaâmaking some bites overloaded while others were bareâbut they also forgot a paid add-on: green olives. Thatâs unacceptable for any dining experience, let alone one claiming Italian authenticity. Presentation-wise, the pizza looked like it had been assembled by someone who had never eaten pizza, let alone made one.
In terms of flavor, the ingredients didnât singâthey barely spoke. There was no freshness, no seasoning, and no balance. The sauce was watery and dull, the cheese greasy rather than rich, and whatever herbs they used were undetectable to the palate.
Bottom line: this is not Italian pizza, not even close. Save your money and your tastebuds the disappointment. This was one of the most underwhelming and carelessly prepared pizzas Iâve ever had. If this place wants to call itself an Italian restaurant, they need to go back to the fundamentalsâstarting with how to...
Read moreI normally donât do reviews especially if I donât have much good to say and I have held off for many months to say anything but hearing many friends with similar experiences I feel I had to say something. I wonât go into detail about our horrible experience but I will say the âownerâ is a complete J&$!. In fact he threw his Excellent bartender under the bus for something we knew he did (if not for the bartender we would have walked out , he actually looked embarrassed by the âownersâ awful customer service) As paying customers that love to go out (our bill was close to $500 for 2 people) and could have been weekly regulars there they permanently lost our business. You will only get treated with respect if you are personal friends of the owners. Having been in the restaurant business in downtown Toronto for close to 20years, this would not have been tolerated. My adviceâŚ. learn how to treat ALL your customers with the same courtesy...
Read moreWas staying overnight nearby and walked in without a reservation. The restaurant was packed but the owner sat us after letting us know our table had been reserved for a time later that evening. We promised to eat quickly and leave. The calamari, mussels and foccacia were delicious. We ordered pizza and branzino for our main courses and both were perfectly prepared and tasty. The hot pepper oil added a little spice to the pizza. The owner stopped by part way through our meal and told us to take our time as the later reservation had cancelled. We chatted a while and learned about the restaurant, and the pizzaolo who was born and raised in Italy and who learned his craft there. His skill showed in the pizza dough which was light and airy. The pizza was cooked perfectly with ideal leoparding. All in all we had a nice evening and great meal. If we didnât live 300 miles away in another country we would definitely be...
