A&W Canada — Restaurant in Calgary

This review is for my visit on Oct. 24, 2025.

I came in around 11:40. They're open, but no staff at the counter. I waited a couple minutes. Then 5 minutes. No one showed up. Even after knocking on the counter or saying hello loudly.

Thankfully, the gas station attendant walked over and called them over. The lady didn't seem too excited. Felt like I interrupted whatever they were doing back there.

Anyways, I ordered 2 burgers. They were fast, but felt almost too fast. It usually takes a few minutes to properly do the burgers.

So I got the burgers, and they were cold. The cheese were only melted on the edges. Amd buns were stiff. I still ate them since I was hungry and I'm not usually picky but this was a little...

Just ordered from this location on Skip the Dishes and I'm so blown away. Gave them a thumbs up on there but it didn't feel like enough.

The food was awesome but they really went above and beyond to make out take out experience was good.

The drinks were capped with a sealed lid (no straw hole) to prevent spills and they included the usual lids and there was a little care package in one bag that was a sealed bag. It had neatly folded napkins, wet wipes, ketchup, salt & pepper packets and even 2 root beer lollipops.

May not seem like much of a big thing but I was completely shocked at the time and attention they put into this little kit. It is obvious that they really care about...

A&W is a staple experience for "good" fast food. Glad about the changes the franchise has made in Canada to embrace local and wholesome ingredients. It's a big difference compared to what the franchise is like in the United States. I don't usually like fast food but A&W is one of the few exceptions. My little kids love it. However, not all franchises are alike. This A&W is one of those roadside combos linked to Petro Canada. It's new and clean. The tea and coffee you actually get from the convenience store coffee bar, which is neat. More options. Sitting area is pretty good for a gas station. Was really busy especially the drive-thru.
