I’ve been to this bakery a few times and really enjoyed their bread, but unfortunately my recent experience with customer service left me very disappointed.

About a month and a half ago, I asked if it would be possible to get a little bit of their sourdough starter to mix with my own. The staff at the time were very kind and accommodating. One of the girls even checked with the baker and told me that if I came back the next day, they’d be happy to share some. Life got busy and I didn’t return right away, but a few weeks later I asked again. I was told the baker wasn’t there because they were doing home deliveries, and that I should come back the following day.

Today I came back once more, ordered my bread, paid, but this time the interaction was completely different. I politely asked if it was possible to get some starter, and the staff member (a different person once again), without any explanation or courtesy, simply said “No.” I was caught off guard and clarified, explaining that I had previously been told it was okay, but she repeated “No” in the same blunt way. When she finally checked with the baker, the answer was still no, but again without any explanation or apology.

I completely understand if the bakery doesn’t want to share their starter, that’s their choice. What I find unacceptable is the lack of consistency and the dismissive attitude. Good customer service isn’t about always saying “yes,” but about communicating kindly and respectfully. A simple explanation like, “Sorry, we only use our starter in-house and can’t give it out” would have been enough. Instead, I left feeling very unwelcome, which is a shame because their bread itself is good.

Sadly, for me, the customer service has gone downhill, and I won’t be...

We are very fortunate to have Sweet Rhapsody Bakery Cafe and Patisserie in Legacy.

They have the best sourdough bread in Calgary and exceptional customer service to match! Alina is very friendly, always greets customers warmly and with a smile. She also makes an effort to remember my regular order, which I greatly appreciate.

The bread is always fresh at Sweet Rhapsody. The crust is crispy, and the inside is perfectly fluffy and tangy. Each bite is truly a delectable experience. Whether enjoying it plain, toasted, or as part of a sandwich, this bread is simply divine!

The atmosphere of the bakery is cozy and inviting creating the perfect ambiance for a quick bite or a long conversation with friends. As the name suggests, they have a great selection of delicious desserts and even snacks. Thank you, Sweet Rhapsody Bakery Cafe and Patisserie for being a...

Edit a year later: That Baklava was not good. Soggy. No crisp at all. Not very flakey. The Cheese Pita round, needed 15 more minutes in the oven and better quality cheese. Was very doughy. The whole item was quite salty as well, and very greasy. My Latte was 5/5

Previous review: Very cute bakery! Service was friendly from the fella, but we weren't blown away by the pastries TBH.... although they were fresh and moist, I didn't enjoy the Cherry Panna Cotta or Vanilla cake slice. Quite flavorless to me :( The cream puffs were great tho. We wish they had a bit more items, but its a smaller bakery/coffee shop so sometimes...

Reminds me so much of Budapest! Even the desserts have their original names. I know it's not a Hungarian bakery, but we share a lot of the same words. I'm so grateful to have a little Eastern European bakery and coffee shop so close to home. The bread is unbelievable, especially if you pour a little bit of olive oil on it and place fresh tomatoes slices on top with a sprinkle of Himalayan salt. So good! I've tried a couple of their cakes, and they taste just like in Europe! I highly recommend stopping by!

They don't sell decaf, so I had a cocoa. It was good, but the top 1/3 to 1/4 was foam. They have a basic coffee menu, but did have oatmilk as a nondairy option. They also don't have gluten-free options, so I had rasberry muffin. It was very fresh. All the items in the display case looked very nice. They also have sourdough breads for sale There is an outdoor patio for summertime. They had a sign about a delivery service for people over 75, I've included a picture.
