Thankfully the White Spot at Pat Bat & Mt. Newton wasn’t open until 11:00 (what WS does that? Staff shortage maybe.) Forlorn in the parking lot, we searched the internet for "breakfast near me" & headed for this place. We were so glad we did. Classic, homey diner atmosphere. Felt like we were in the States where diners are an art. Only thing missing was the server doesn’t call you "Hon". Menu is massive, which can be worrisome cuz a cook can only do so much well. But everything seems to be a variation of the same ingredients, with simple variations & adds. All-in-all it’s creative & wholesome food. Hubs had the equivalent of a Nat's special, & he reported it was better. I had the 1/2 deli ham Benny which was good, but I should have got the full as was pretty small & to get double the amount for a couple dollars more would have been a better deal. What makes this place really good is the obvious use of fresh food….nothing seemed from frozen. Like from Mom's kitchen. I had to add more salt & squeeze the orange slice garnish on the hollandaise to zip up the flavour (could have used more lemon). Hence no 5th star. Great service with smiles. Food came quickly & coffee refills prompt. Seemed like lots of regulars in there that servers knew by name. The worst thing about the experience was the ride home. Hubs kept repeating, "That was a great meal." until I told him I’d already heard him the 20th time. Guess we'll be going back! :)
