Anjou’s Pizza — Restaurant in Champlain

This used to be a great place for ice-cream. It was considered a treat to stop there when I was growing up and my children in turn say the same. Unfortunately, it is no longer what it once was. Here's why...

Let me start by saying the waffle cone with one scoop was more than enough. It was huge and filled right from the bottom. The ice-cream though, was not the good quality stuff they used to have. It didn't have that lovely creaminess on the palate that you get with better quality ice-creams. My husband's cherry ice-cream was not fresh (the cherry bits had become slushy)

The employees were not wearing hair nets.

The biggest issue with this place were the Covid 19 sanitary measures. There was no hand sanitizer at the door. Not a single employee (I saw three and dealt with two) was wearing a mask. They didn't even make an attempt by having a mask hanging from their ears. Our ice-cream was prepared by a lady with no mask. My money was taken by a lady with no mask. A man entered and went behind the counter twice also with no mask. Maybe I missed the sign that exempts them from the pandemic health laws that every other citizen and business must abide by? Forgive me if I did. They did have a plexiglass between cash and customer.

I highly doubt I will be returning.

Thank you for the reply. You note that you immediately started wearing masks "even before mandated", however my visit was well past the mandating of the masks by EOHU. Perhaps you just have your dates wrong. Given your reply, I may choose to give you another go...

It is nearly impossible to get a THIN CRUST pizza in the whole of Prescott Russell. After many years of passing this place by, I decided to see if they would make thin crust pizza. To my great surprise, they knew exactly what I was talking about and I ordered a medium pepperoni, bacon and olives. To my absolute delight the pizza was exceptionally delicious. I am excited to have found a place where I can trust ordering a pizza. Not only was the pizza excellent, but the price of a medium pizza was significantly lower than any other restaurant. I thank this tiny snack bar profusely and will continue to order my pizzas...

Pizza - 5/5.

A bit on the greasy side if you like that in a pizza (I do !). The toppings were generously portioned. Cooked well. And if you get the large (18 inches) it will easily feed 4 adults. Biggest pizza I've seen in a long time.

Poutine - 2/5.

This is where the wheels start to fall off. I don't know what sauce they used but it wasn't good. Just had a really weird taste to it. Ruined was what a well portioned poutine to be honest. If they used better gravy it would easily be a 4/5 if not more.

Me and my wife will no doubt frequent this place again as their pizza was amazing. Just need to up there...
