Do not trust the food if you have serious food allergies. This place isn't safe.

They contaminated my food despite denying it even when I was coughing and itching and my voice was hoarse. I informed them of a serious allergy to carrots as I wanted a dish with vegetables prior to the meal, they said they could just give me broccoli. They also stated the carrots weren't steamed with the broccoli, this was clearly incorrect or there was a miscommunication within the kitchen. Once I ate the broccoli and a bit of the potato the reaction started.

They gave me water and asked if I wanted to leave with to go containers and pay my bill. They did give me water and told me where the hospital was, service was kind but did not feel compensatory for having risked my life and left for 2 days itching and questioning severity. I carry an epi and I am anaphylactic.

I never got to eat my meal and neither did my partner as I had to get help. We paid to have...

I have to relate the experience I had at this restaurant today. The food was very mediocre but the thing that spoiled it for us was how other guests were treated. My wife and I, 60-something Caucasians had been seated by the window without any issue at all. About 5 minutes later a younger Asian couple approached the same area and asked the server to be seated behind us, only to be told that the section was all reserved and then being led to less desirable seats far from the window. I should have been quick enough to question the server but didn't think fast enough, and this polite, young couple accepted the refusal. But there was lots of room in the area, the restaurant was nearly empty, and nobody ever arrived.

I am pretty confident they were given second class seats not because of any reservation but because of their ethnicity. I was shocked, this is 2023, and that's an unacceptable attitude in any business,...

My husband and I took a trip out to Cape Breton this summer (July) and this recommendation for dinner out in Cheticamp from our hosts did not disappoint!

First of all, our view of the ocean was beautiful, and the staff friendly, warm and inviting. Don't let the less than impressive website/menu images (sorry!) fool you, the food is terrific. I enjoyed the Bayside Fettuccine (a generous portion) and my husband had a Fisherman's "Best of Both" dinner of Lobster and Crab. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned, service was exceptionally well paced- we went back to our lodging stuffed and happy!

The only hiccup was at the end of the night- the debit system was down and there was a bit of a wait to pay, but other than that, flawless experience. We really hope to return one day, and definitely recommend this stop for those visiting the...

Dropped into the Harbour Restaurant for the first time. What a nice atmosphere and the view at our table was beautiful. Got to watch fishing boats coming in the harbour. The service was good but they seemed a little confused when seating us. The restaurant is very clean & bright. The prices are on the high side for some meals so bring your wallet. I found out why the fish and chips aren't on the evening menu. Not the greatest by a long shot especially for the price. Although the meals my wife sister and here husbands meals looked pretty good. Only really bad thing to say is the parking is bad not much spots available. One can only imagine what it would be like on the weekend if you had to find a spot to park.

Came here for dinner today with husband and kids. We picked a table with a view of the water. Our waiter was super friendly and courteous, we got 2 kids hotdogs, husband ordered French onion soup, thai chicken stir fry and a beer, and I got the mussels, bowl of seafood chowder and a herbal tea. The food arrived promptly, and everything was delicious (I especially loved the mussels! Celery pieces in the broth were yummy too). Kids got the apple cake in homemade caramel sauce and the strawberry shortcake (both were quickly devoured and were delish). We had a lovely evening - the food, the view, the attentive friendly staff. Definitely will be back next time we’re in Cheticamp!

On 8/10/2024 Dinner: The Harbour Restaurant, Cheticamp, Nova Scotia Second best restaurant on our entire Cape Breton trip. I had the Crab leg dinner (which we can’t get in Maine)and my husband had the seafood chowder with a ceasars salad. Crabmeat plate rates a 5, a whole crab cooked to perfection with garlic, delicious well-seasoned rice and vegetables on the side that were not overcooked. The seafood chowder was nothing special. The ceasars salad was perfect with just the right amount of dressing and cheese and bacon bits added. Excellent and friendly service by Diana. Beautiful view right on the water at Cheticamp. Pricey but worth it. Price included a bottle of wine.
