we were two of 7 ebikers who stayed here and at a neighboring property. Very nice renovated old house. ||Gal who checked us in was very pleasant and efficient despite having a broken connection with their credit card reader. We stayed upstairs. Friend stayed downstairs with a little dedicated deck of their own. ||Our room was small but very clean and decently decorated. Had a new bathroom with shower insert that was very good. Good functional air conditioner. Plenty of hot water. View of the bay. Very comfortable bed. A little scant on outlets, just an FYI for felow ebikers, as we had a ton of stuff to charge - rear view camera, bike batteries, headlamps, headlights, etc etc. ah, progress. Good recommendations for places to eat. Breakfast included, which I didn't partake of, except for a bagel and cream cheese. Only "negative" was that there was a tip envelope in the room for housekeeping; we ALWAYS leave a tip but for some reason our nova scotia trip (this was our second in two weeks) we forgot to get cash and just used our cards. I asked the guy at the desk when we left if we could get $5 cash from my debit card for housekeeping and he said there was no way he could do that. Not sure I believe that, and as a result the housekeeper didn't get a tip. Our bad. Cheticamp is not a metropolis, but being coastal it is a "long" town but everything we needed was in...
Read moreOh, my goodness! This Inn was so much more than we expected! Cassandra welcomed us to the Burns Suite downstairs, which had its own front porch. Because we were leaving for a hike before the next dayâs included breakfast, she stocked our refrigerator with hard boiled eggs, fruit, coffee, creamer, and muffins. She also provided a coffee maker and a microwave for our convenience. The room was spacious, exceptionally clean, nicely redecorated, and comfortable. The powerful HVAC kept us cool on an unseasonably warm evening. The bathroom was also clean, with a shelf for toiletries and nice fluffy towels. The Silver Lining Inn is strategically located for hikers to visit the Cheticamp Cabot Trail Visitor Center, Aucoin Bakery, and LeBlancâs General Store to prepare for the Skyline Trail. We also had an interesting visit at nearby Les Trois Pignons and an entertaining evening at the Doryman Pub. I think the Silver Lining Inn is really a âsleeperâ (a wonderful inn that is not yet well known) under its newer attentive management. I highly recommend...
Read moreI am so glad I stumbled upon this location through the Cape Breton tourism website! You have to book with the Inn directly but it is well worth it. We booked two rooms- one in the main house and one in the motel portion at the back. Both rooms had comfortable and fresh linens and bedding and were very clean.
The inn is right at the heart of Chéticamp harbour near the beautiful boardwalk and restaurants/grocery store/museum and general pharmacy. The owners are kind and accommodating, and very helpful about tourism advice in the area.
It is one of the few accommodations I found in my research that included a breakfast, which was a great plus for a busy morning.
My only critique relates to the bathrooms in the motel portion of the inn - they are clean and functional but could do with a little updating aesthetics-wise. Otherwise the bathroom my mother had in the main house/structure was very modern and nice.
I cannot recommend this place enough! You wonât be...
