My husband and I have been traveling through the east coasts and trying different restaurants. We came in on a Tuesday evening around 7:00pm. We were going to to go Baddeck Lobster Suppers instead but we were staying the night in Chéticamp and this place was rated highly. The ambiance was nice , hip, modern and a fun place to hang or want to grab a drink . The food did not live up to the ratings. We were sat down pretty quickly and had our orders taken within 10 Mins. Unfortunately we had probably one of the worst dinners in the east coast since being here and the most longest ridiculous wait time. By the time we left we have been there for over 2 hours .

We both had the seafood chowder each, truffle and parm fries to share and also the lobster dinner with Brussels spouts. It was our first full lobster dinner out since hitting Nova Scotia so we wanted to make it worth it . We waited 1 hour and 15 minutes before we were served our appetizer, the seafood chowder. The chowder was super liquidly and there was not a lot of lobster in it but instead a lot of carrots and potatoes fillers as well as fish. It was not creamy of how chowders should be but felt like you were drinking seafood cooked in milk. The truffle fries we’re okay , but that was probably because we were hungry . That did not come out until another 15 minutes. By the time we got our main course it was 9:35 pm , over 2 hours since we waited , which is ridiculous since we cooked our own boiling lobsters the day before in 20 minutes.

The lobsters came out and it was a little disappointing as well. It was one of the tiniest lobster with barely any meat... We expected since we were in Cape Breton for fresh caught Atlantic lobsters but these ones just tasted like it came from a store or ordered in and sat in a tank... the Brussels spouts we’re hard to swallow down . The char taste did not go well with the lobster and the corn was plain and op. At market price the lobster was a $45 meal each and we were throughly disappointed. I give it 2 stars for food ; the ambiance was different, more modern and hip and a nice place if you’re just grabbing a drink but not what youre looking for if you want to be like local and have a local experience .

The ratings for this restaurant was way overrated and we should have made the drive to Baddeck instead or gone to the Seafood Stop. Spend your...

Just finished eating here and the food and service were just so amazing that I had to leave this review right away. From the minute we stepped in, we were greeted warmly and sat at a table with a great view.

Service: Our server Tierra was Fabulous! She was friendly, upbeat and very interactive. She was patient with questions and made good recommendations. I overheard her serving the other tables as well and she was just as pleasant and outgoing. Thank you so much for making this such a great experience for us and everyone else from beginning to end Tierra!

Food: The menu is thoughtful. The way they cater to all kinds of food sensitivities, diets and preferences is outstanding. As we were one of the later tables in the night we had the pleasure of meeting Chris who cooked our meals. Rarely do we get to express our gratitude to the hands that prepare our meals and no wonder the food tasted so good, he had such a great energy! Chris, the food was delicious and so satisfying, thank you!

Drinks: I had some blueberry magic drink, so good and great selection overall. Lots of options!

View/Ambiance: Stunning, there’s a door to the patio area outside where a beautiful Oceanside view awaits… lovely for photos and the inside is a chic but relaxed, inclusive vibe.

Overall, an absolute must stop in the...

Very disappointing. Hostess: Had a reservation and booked the space knowing they had amazing reviews as I wanted to bring my mother who’s visiting from overseas. The hostess was extremely unfriendly, lied to us. People who were before us and after us in line inquired if they would possibly sit on the patio, they were all told yes but when we asked she said no and said it’s full atm and we can let you move when a space is available, so we sat inside to wait. 5 min in, two table outside left and I asked to move she said there is WL. ( there wasn’t a WL she lied). Literally the person came in 10 min after us ( a couple) asked whether if possible to sit outside if there is space and she gladly told them of course we can do that and moved them outside so clearly no waitlist. Followed by then another person came and asked to move out and they also moved them. I did not appreciate her discrimination which felt like racism towards us. When we sat inside we weren’t even given a menu for 10 min and just sat and waited. Everyone else around us was getting served or checked on except us. Food: food was great however our drinks arrived 5 min after our dinner was served. Our server wasn’t friendly and didn’t check on us and it felt rushed. This was the worst experience I’ve had and first time ever felt really...

We really wanted to love this place. From the moment we arrived, the staff was great—friendly, attentive and clearly doing their best to create a welcoming experience. The atmosphere was a highlight, but the music was way too loud in the bar, I could barely hear the host. Jarring to me after driving down the cape. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the billing, except the scallops-those were excellent, but only a side. The steak was mostly chewy and the fish was bland, nothing that justified the price point in my opinion. For what we paid, we expected more in terms of quality and creativity. Further, although I said the service was a positive, the restaurant has their tips starting at 20% on their machine and go up from there. I did not appreciate this. They did not give an itemized bill ahead of time and the server stands over you with the machine. It is awkward and in poor taste.

We decided to make a dinner reservation at L'abri as one of my girlfriend's friends highly recommended it. We were definitely not disappointed. The service was attentive, professional, and personal. The appetizers (a goat cheese, pecan, and garden greens salad and Acadian haddock cakes) were creative, beautifully-plated, and delicious. Our main (the L'abri burger) was filling and tasty. The views of the sunset over Cheticamp harbour were unparalleled. House wines were $5 for a 6 oz pour. Dinner for 2 with four drinks, two appetizers, and a shared main was $85 with tax and tips. Overall an absolutely incredible restaurant that delivers amazing food at unprecedented value. Would recommend without hesitation for anyone looking for supper in Cheticamp.
