Yes, this is typically a tourist restaurant, specifically for visitors staying in the adjacent hotel and if you had to order a la carte, you’d wonder how any locals could afford eating here. So as a visitor, eat up and enjoy because the food is delicious and customized to you.

One thing in particular I liked was the breakfast with veggie sausage—ask they don’t burn it. They make this patty in house and it is worth trying even if you prefer the unhealthier real deal. Also, I was pleasantly surprised they had Cholula hot sauce, which is 1,000 better than Tabasco IMHO.

Note that any ground beef has to be cooked well done but the steak option to your liking.

One thing about their cookies — most times someone adds salt as a garnish. Not my thing so watch for it. It’s not...

Our group ate at all the 3 main restaurants open for regular business im Churchill, Manitoba in mid March 2025 and Ptarmigan restaurant was the best - every time. They have a very talented chef who is creative yet holds onto the traditional in their food. Down home staples such as burgers and stews are top notch. Then they great modern breakfasts, salads and bowls in addition to our favorites. In addition, there is a wonderful espresso machine that makes just about any coffee or tea latte you want, yummy baked goods, the best marble rye bread I’ve ever had AND a friendly and competent staff to serve it all. Ask for Andrea to take care of you. She waited on us a couple of times and was so nice. We ate breakfast lunch and dinner here I highly recommend you...

I rarely write a review but feel compelled to do so to share with ownership how unprofessional and rude the gentleman with the Australian accent who was working (Saturday August 19, 2023 at approximately 12:30 pm) was to our party of 5 in a mostly empty restaurant. So much so that we chose not to dine at the restaurant.

Regrettably this does not appear to be an isolated incident. I was at the same restaurant the day before and while the food was very good, I was surprised to witness this same individual treating his colleagues in a less than professional manner.

My hope is that ownership can provide mentorship to this individual, including informing him that his behavior to colleagues and customers is unacceptable and will not...

Do not get the Chicken Supreme. It’s two seared pieces of a chicken breast, with rationed vegetables littered around the plate. It looks like a meal you’d expect to get in a 3 Michelin star restaurant, but does not have the taste to go behind it. The vegetables surround the two pieces of chicken like hungry wolves, dying to savour the little meal that they catch with incredible effort. It costs an exorbitant 36$, which boasts a meal deserved by hard work. This absolute atrocity is the definition of a money-plate: a slave’s meal that costs the riches of the men that own them. If you do enter this hole of a restaurant, get anything but the seared chicken, unless you enjoy supporting local businesses.

Food is really good. That won’t be a surprise to anyone who has eaten at The Tundra pub across the street (same owners). The portions are generous and they seem to have pretty inventive specials. I wouldn’t say it’s an “inexpensive” place to dine, a delicious & filling lunch for two (no drinks), including tip, was +$60 but that’s cheaper than flying to Winnipeg for something as good. Great ambience, delicious food, excellent service. Bottom line is it’s a really nice new place to enjoy a meal in The Polar Bear Capital of The World.
