The breakfast here used to be unbeatable, it was excellent food, reasonably priced and cooked to your order. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. A buddy and I were in for breakfast this morning and it was unbelievably bad. Ordered the classic breakfast: 2x eggs, 2x slices of toast and 3x strips of bacon. The toast was drier than the Sahara Desert, the eggs ordered over easy were at a minimum over hard and closer to boiled with absolutely no yolk uncooked. I asked (while ordering) 3x to add sausage links to the order and received sausage links replacing the bacon. I don't know who would ever interpret the word add as substitute, but the surprises just keep coming if you risk ordering food at A&W in Cold Lake.
The lady that I asked to go over my bill with me (different from our server) and explain why there was no bacon got to the root of the problem quickly and professionally and then proceeded to ring me up for $6 more to get 6 strips of bacon, 3 for my order and 3 for my buddy's order.
With the price of 'fast food' going as high as it is nowadays a person is better off to go to the Lakeland or Humpty's and have an actual restaurant cooked meal. I'm not sure if it's cheaper or how much more expensive it is, but next time I am in the mood for a dine-in experience and breakfast it WILL NOT be at A&W.
I wish I could post otherwise, as I like to leave good reviews to reward excellence, but this breakfast today was so bad I wouldn't want my worst enemy spending their dollars there and receiving a similarly terrible meal.
I might add that it was not at all busy while we were there, no line-ups, other customers already had their food and were seated when we ordered.
Do better, A&W you've fallen a long ways in quality and service since the good old days of being the best drive in burger joint a fella...
Read moreI just wanted to order some food. There service was so rude I left crying. I have a meat allergy, and every time I tried to order a veggie burger (because the menu says all day burgers) I got eye rolled and attitude. Here's the complete interaction from 15mins ago
Me :"Hey, can I have x, 2y and a PriPri veggie burger. Points to chicken burger. Me: " no, that's a chicken burger. I have a meat allergy, I know it sucks. The PriPri veggie burger " Me: " could I maybe talk to someone else?" Lady : another eye roll " well is it X or Y burger" Me: "I'm not sure, whatever the one with PriPri sauce is " Lady: "okay" puts in a beef buddy burger. Me: " I'm sorry, that's a beef burger and I have a meat allergy" Lady: last eye roll " no, it's fine" Me : " no it's not, it says beef. Please I have a meat allergy. I'm not making this up, Please. it's an A1 allergy from a tick bite. My autoimmune disorder took that allergy and when crazy with it. Read moreAfter my football game, I went through the drive-thru at this location with my teammates and my wife, who is Filipino. We ordered our food, and as we approached the window, the manager made comments in Filipino, which my wife translated for me. The manager said, “They’re all black,” “Why are they here?” and “They’ve been here too long.” Upon hearing this, we decided to park and go inside. My wife asked to speak with the manager, and when the manager realized that my wife was also Filipino, she immediately started apologizing and admitted she shouldn’t have said those things. I joined in, expressing that her behavior was completely unacceptable and that she needed to be more respectful and considerate. No customer should ever walk into your establishment and feel like they’re being talked about in another language. If my wife hadn’t been there to translate, who knows what else might have been said about us? It’s disturbing to think that we did nothing but give your business our patronage, only to be treated this way. As a manager and a human being, she needs to be better. It’s unacceptable to make such comments about anyone. I would strongly advise against visiting this place if you’re a...
