Went out for supper with the wife hoping for the experience of old original joes. Greatly disappointed. The menu which used to have way more stuff was gone. A tiny menu has taken its place with a few appetizers and a couple burgers. I am sure this was brought on by COVID-19 but none the less is what you will see from them now. It’s basically McDonald’s now with big burgers that are bland. I ordered the onion rings for appetizer, haddock stack, mash potatoes, and Caesar salad. The onion rings were basically Sobey’s onion rings that you get in the frozen section. They also didn’t bring out the dill dip and asked if we wanted dill dip. Which was irritating cause of course we do it is supposed to come with horribly overcooked onion rings. They ran out of mashed potato’s which is Weird cause in the restaurant business you can pre make mashed potato’s. They were replaced with fries. Fries were good. The fish burger which was way over cooked! To the point there was parts so hard I couldn’t even chew it. It had a lack of flavour and although it was supposed to have tartar sauce, the tartar sauce was sparse which is sad cause that would have been the only flavour. The small amount of tartar sauce they put on it made the top of the bun soggy and it fell apart. I would normally say a messy burger is a good burger but not on a bland flavourless fish burger. The Caesar salad was the only blessing as it had real bacon pieces and the Caesar salad dressing was good. The waitress was delightful. Originally joes has fallen apart in my opinion it will be a long time till I go spend my money there again. Good luck to anybody that chooses to eat there. I support local but...
Read moreMy second time going.... I tried again. The food is still not any good. Original joe burger was dry. My guest said her west coast salad was not very good either. Overpriced for salty fries.... very salty gravy and a dry signature burger. By the time I got my overpriced drink my meal was pretty much done so I only drank half a glass. Not going back!!
The first time I went started out good... we were allowed to bring in cake for my moms bday. We Got appetizers... the parmessian chips were good. My chicken burger was good but my daughters ACE poutine was very very salty.... kinda gross 2 out 5. And my husbands fish n chips were just as salty... and he loves fish. Overall fries were almost burnt. I felt their meal did NOT suit the price we paid. Overpriced for the quality..... toooo much salt!!! A & W would have been just as good at 1/3 of the cost... pretty pricey. Most likely wont be going back. Waitress was fine. We tipped her good even tho the food wasnt that great. Note to chef...Too much salt makes it all taste the same...
Read moreWent for dinner, it was very poor service from behind the counter. The highlight of the evening was when the service lady had to keep coming out with all of the bad news. Situation was only 3 tables were being used at this time. Bad news items. 1.Staff did not know how to make a black Russian drink. Customer asked for no garlic nor onion on his dinner. Answer was "sure". Not 5 or 10 mins but 25 min. later; the server asked if he wanted no chicken. Lol, so instead of ordering a new dish he got salad... OMG... 25 minutes for the cooks to decide!!!! and everyone was given their meals while the customer waited for his 1/2 dish. By the way it was the same price... When the dessert was served. It was wrong too.
Sawmill has degraded to a below standard. The poor server has to deal with the customer's disappointments; and cooks excuses. May this comment be of some use to the...
