I came here with my 9 year old for a late supper. They were busy but there were a lot of servers on. We were seated and no one came to our table. The server whose section I’m assuming we were seated in came to a table that was diagonal to ours. She was chit chatting with a lady at that table for quite some time. They were close enough that I could hear their small talk. We were not acknowledged. I went up to another server and asked if we could move tables since we were not getting service in the section we were seated in. She said sure, I showed her where we were moving to and she said she’d be right over. The food for another table by us came up so she was busy bringing that out next. She didn’t come take our drink order afterwards. We were just left sitting there…still. We went to the washroom and came back and waited a bit longer. She finally came over and offered to bring water. I asked for lemon and a straw for mine. She brought the water straight away but not the straw or lemon. Once she got those she took our drink order at which time my daughter asked for a straw for her water too. She never came with back with it so my daughter went up to her while she was at the bar talking with another server and asked her for a straw again, at which time the server gave one to her. My daughter ordered a Shirley Temple which she normally loves. She said it was sour so I tasted it and it definitely wasn’t made correctly. When I ordered the special I was told that they had just sold their last portion of it. If they had taken my order in a timely manner then they wouldn’t have been out. I would give the food a solid 7 out of 10 but the service sucked so much that we won’t be back. When we were clearly finished (empty glasses and plates) no one came to clear them or offer the bill so we went to wash our hands and then pay on the way out at the till. When we got to the till there was a man doing paperwork there and our server came up to us and said she’d bring the bill so I ended up paying standing in the middle of the walkway there which seemed awkward and odd. When I dine out, I want good food AND good service. If you want decent food and inattentive service then this...
Read moreI've lived in Leduc for a couple of years now, but never felt a pull to go to Zambelli's. The outside of the restaurant looks pretty blah. Minimal deco and looks outdated. Could use some simple plants or life on the outside. When I go out to eat, it's not just for the food. It's to experience an atmosphere. But my husband really wanted to try something different, so one summer afternoon we went and tried it out.
Entering Zambelli's we were greeted by a Christmas tree. Come on guys, it's June! Paint color is so 90s (green, red and blue) and the trim is awful. Who knows when the carpet was cleaned. Two of the large tables, that we were seated by, had rolls and rolls of paper and cardboard boxes. By the kitchen serving window, there were rows of chairs with more boxes sitting on top. Packing and organizing while there are guests at the restaurant? Big no no.
The space seems so overwhelming. Somehow the seating needs rearranging or dividing into clearer sections. Covid would have been the perfect time to renovate this place. It is in need of a major update. Larger paintings or something to help ground a person in such a large area.
There are lots of items on the menu. Almost too many. Simplifying it wouldn't hurt. The sandwich / burger section with the various designated sides was odd. How come I can't just pick soup, salad or fries? In the end, I ordered a loaf with salad. I was expecting to get a meatloaf. It was a sandwich. Tad disappointed that I was wrong about what I was ordering. It was good though. Bun seemed homemade. Husband got a burger and felt the flavors didn't go well together (I disagree). Decent fries though. The waitress was pleasant and made small talk about the afternoon. She checked on us to make sure the food was good and that we had refills.
My husband wants to try the pizza at some point. We will be back, but I hope things are cleaned up for the next time. There aren't many great restaurants in Leduc and Zambelli's has the potential to be fantastic. You've got...
Read moreRead moreI took my kids here for supper today. When we walked in we were greeted with a fantastic smell, so that made us feel ok with our choice as we had never been here before. Our waitress was very scatter brained but sweet. When ordering she listened to what my kids had to say they wanted rather than me (they wanted pop which I don't allow but they are 4 and 6 so they try)...when I said no the waitress almost challenged me on it which made tension high at my table with my kids. We had our menus for quite a long time before the waitress ever came back. When she did come back for our orders she barely listened to my requests as she was rushing me. Their kids menu stinks! Their are 2 choices for the kids (both of which my son didn't want). I ordered and the food took quite some time to be prepared (which is fine as long as our drinks were taken care of but they weren't). When our food came, the rice was bland and covered in olive oil, my sons fish and chips was over cooked and cooked in old oil so it tasted bitter. We never saw the waitress during our meal to be able to complain and ask for things to be fixed. My daughter's scallops still had shells on them. When she came to bring us our bill (LONG TIME) I complained and she said "I'll just run and ask for more to be made and you can take them home"...I said NO I am in a hurry but she ignored me and left...I didn't pay yet so I couldn't leave. She came back from the kitchen I swear 45 secs later with scallops ready to go....since when does it take 45 secs (less if you count packing time) to cook sea food? I threw them out. I will not go back. Their bathrooms stink as well....
