Perks Coffee House — Restaurant in City of Spruce Grove

I don’t live in Spruce Grove, but asked a local friend for a recommendation. Please read the whole review and give it a thumbs up if you find it helpful 🙇‍♂️.

𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥: Fantastic cafe. Will return in the future. If you use Wi-Fi when you’re here, read my list of cons. VPN may be something to consider.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐬: — Great, bright atmosphere. — very tasty food (meat lovers sandwich; see picture). — Good iced latte (sugar free cinnamon-vanilla). — There is Wi-Fi available AND multiple electrical outlets (!). — Friendly staff — Music isn’t so loud that it’s distracting, but not so quiet to be white noise. — Art work from local artists is a neat touch and you can purchase if you like it, I think. — Very clean and well-maintained (have not used the washroom). — If you have access to the Shaw hotspot through your Shaw or Freedom Mobile account, you can get speeds over 100mbs.

𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬: — Wi-Fi agreement seems kind of sketchy. I had to agree to receive promotional materials otherwise it wouldn’t grant access on my laptop. If you use a social account to gain Wi-Fi access (FB or Twitter), make sure you customize the access the connection has to your account. By default they get your email, what you’ve “Liked” for pages (on FB), and more.

Yes, I can withdraw consent for these things, but it’s kind of icky, even though I understand it’s a common practice for offering a “free” service.

Remember everyone: 𝘪𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘵𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘪𝘴 “𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦” 𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵.

I read through the privacy statement and they state that your activities will be monitored and some data collected. This is the primary reason I’m unable to give it a five star. It’s just kind of sketchy to me.

It’s possible I’m misunderstanding something though, so I can’t give any lower than 4 stars. — Perks Wi-Fi is very slow (see picture). Use the Shaw hotspot if you’re eligible to do so.

🤷‍♂️‘𝐬: — One sandwich + medium iced latte = around $16. — If you’re paranoid about the ‘rona, the staff leave a card on each table that lets you know if the table has been cleaned/sanitized yet.

Today is Friday and 3 minutes ago, I enter in this coffee shop to buy a coffee and a green tea matcha 🍵 and a banana bread; my mother got some bad news and I was crying 😭 all day , and my pastor from church show me this coffee ☕ shop so today , my mom is not here , Sunday is mother's day and I ask for a green 🍵 tea match for my ,,mom,, and my coffee and one banana bread. But my card was blocked due to someone trying to scam me .....so I didn't Have any money , and on my card was the last 20 dollars I had for this month ....so this lady actually is my hero , because she said is ok , I can have my drinks and bread and don't worry. I paid 10 cad is all I could do. And I want to thank this barista for being my hero today. I pull over on side of this parking to cry 😭 and to feel so blessed by this barista ACT of Kindness. I will spread the word, that this is the coffee shop to come, is part of our community and the community spirit is in it . So people come, best tea and coffee ever, fresh food and bakery , and amazing lady's who serve us hot fresh Kindness, drinks and a smile to take out and share with the world. THANK you 💕 and happy mother's day. And thank you for my warm need it mother's day gifts. Blessings...

For the owner: 5 July, 2025 at roughly 1030 hrs, just before two ambulances crews showed up.

Will be making sure I have cash for a tip, so I can give it once I get my order.

Went in today, got 2/3 of the order wrong. Then the person making drinks, left to take more order once she had messed up the first part of order.

Ordered two chilled drinks, one bikini bottom ice tea, and one passion fruit sparkling drink. I will admit here I said that I would drink the first messed up drink, but they got my wife’s drink right, once we noticed the mistake.

Next, the food, I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese. Get a gluten free one, tasted like cardboard with cream cheese. They did give my wife a free normal bagel, that was already in the toaster (god knows for how long).

Long story short, done with prompt tips, without getting the items I order. Will be some time before I step foot back in this place. Having 2/3 of your order messed up, did not leave a good taste...
