The place was great, and had amazing service. We were greeted promptly when arrived. The basic foundation for the food is there, but it could've been so much better. We opt for no Korean spicy sauce ($2 surplus), which could've been the mistake there. Appetizer platter: The chicken tender was nicely deep fried, and juicy. However, spices lacking and came with side dipping sauce (sweet and sour, honey, honey mustard, bbq, hot sauce and additional charge for korean spicy sauce). Opted for white meat. Takoyaki could've used a little Wasabi, and the octopus pieces were a little rubbery. Gyozas and sping rolls were no concerns. Who can complain, it was deep fried and crispy. The chicken sandwich: Same chicken used as the tenders it seems. Nicely deep fried and juicy. Lacking flavours and spices. Again, opted for white meat. The sandwich came with mayo and a slice of cheese, topped with cole slaw. Was not expecting the cheese. Fries were nice and crisp, thankfully. Spicy miso ramen: Nicely flavoured and not overly spicy that you can't taste the food. Noodles were good and not over cooked, can't say the same for the same for the egg though; it was more of a medium to hard boil, not the soft to medium custard textured yoke I was expecting. Egg was well seasoned though. The pork belly pieces were tough, needed a knife to cut into bite sized pieces. Was glad I didn't order extra pork belly as that would've been a disappointment. Overall was a decent place. I would not go out of my way to get here or say anything really stood out to me. But for a small place in Stayner and the surrounding area, decent place for...
Read moreThis is a review for the dining room in Stayner, not the take-out location in Wasaga Beach. Restaurant looks high-end at first but there is a horrible, sickening mildew smell everywhere inside. I walked in for lunch around 1pm on a Saturday and expected a lineup, hardly anyone was in the restaurant and there was only one server. As I walked up to the drinks counter, the waitress called out to me from the pickup window a distance away. She wouldn't approach me. After calling out I needed a table, she told me to sit anywhere, then took an entire phone order, leaving me to wait. Not good.
Menu was a confusing mishmash of different cuisine. The fried chicken options were expensive and the portions looked incredibly small. The ramen section faired worse. Every ramen dish featured pork belly, even the one advertised with a "vegetarian" marker. Text was difficult to read, too many similar options, and I couldn't find any vegetarian broth options other than miso, like they had a surplus of pork they were trying to clear out. (Chicken broth wasn't visible on the menu, despite being a fried chicken restaurant!) Not a good sign. An entire page of the menu was an ad for a homemade rice ball kit. Bizarre.
By the time I worked out the menu, the mold in the air was starting to give me a headache and I couldn't endure Honey Monster any longer. Not sure if their Beach 1 location, which is strictly take-out chicken, offers a better experience, but between the poor service, unappetizing menu and foul odor, there are much better places to spend your...

I bought the monster fried chicken platter, which comes with fried chicken tenders, chicken sandwich served with buttermilk waffles, poutine, onion rings, and coleslaw.
The chicken tenders, had the choice of white or dark meat, I picked dark meat because it tends to be juicier 4.5/5 (It would have been higher if the food was hot, I think the cook let it rest for too long or could have put it under heat lamps)
The chicken sandwich, the meat was mixed with pickles, that was a good touch and the bun was toasted 4/5 (bun and meat weren't hot)
Waffles were very very good (home made) 5/5 (didn't think that would be the star of the show)
Poutine was good and I didn't expect much, frozen fries and pre made gravy with cheese curds 3.5/5 (it was well executed)
Onion rings were good and probably from frozen 3.5/5 (well executed)
Coleslaw was small for the amount of food we got. I found it a little too creamy 3.5/5
The bad thing is that the food came warm and not hot BUT it wasn't oily, none of it was, and that meant the cook did a really good job at making sure the food rested properly
The server was normal. Wasn't super welcoming and did her job (we were the only ones there) 3/5 The environment was nice and so was the decor 4.5/5
My friends and I enjoyed the food and would go there again.
