1904 Social Haus — Restaurant in Clearview

We visited this café all the way from Toronto after seeing their 4.8-star rating and impressive photos online, but our experience was extremely disappointing and upsetting. We ordered coffee, a bagel sandwich, and a cookie. To our shock, the bagel served to us had visible FUNGUS on it, which was absolutely disgusting.

We immediately stopped eating and informed the staff. At first, they only offered a refund for the bagel, but after we made it clear that we were no longer comfortable eating anything from there and were leaving everything behind, they finally refunded the full amount.

It’s unacceptable for any food establishment—especially one with such a high rating—to serve spoiled food. Employees should be checking what they’re serving their customers. Sadly, my wife also felt sick later...

Nice little place hope it stays as I think they’ll improve overtime. Ordered a caprese sandwich which was good but was just missing that little extra bit of flavour. Maybe some shaved garlic on the bread or some red pepper chili oil to give it that flavour to take it over the top. Ordered a lavender lemonade and questioned how it was made which was good after I was told pop is probably more my style…whatever that means. The lavender lemonade was good but not at first as the syrup they use sits at the bottom of the glass and the carbonated water is on top so you have to stir it yourself which is a little annoying based on syrup doesn’t really dissolve immediately in cold carbonated water. We had Shawna, the owner cater a memorial for my mother. We had a variety of dietary restrictions for some of the folks attending. She was super accommodating and very happy to do so. I would highly highly recommend this business. We were not disappointed in any way whatsoever. We were actually quite pleasantly surprised and pleased with her high level of preparation and presentation of the food. If you were thinking of using her to cater your event, do not hesitate. She does a great job. I will absolutely be using her again in the future as I know that there are some upcoming events and our lives. Thank you very much to Shawna...
