I recently ordered a large Classic Original Donair for takeout from King of Donair at 451 Windmill Road in Dartmouth, and I must say the experience lived up to this establishment’s legendary reputation! Upon opening my order, I was immediately struck by the sheer size of the donair. It was so massive that it was nearly impossible to keep it closed for a photo – a logistical challenge, but an absolute delight for the eyes and taste buds! The portion is incredibly generous, easily enough for two meals. The ingredients were fresh, with perfectly spiced, thinly sliced meat, beautifully balanced by KOD’s signature sweet sauce, crisp onions, and juicy tomatoes, all wrapped in a warm, soft pita. The quality of the ingredients and the care put into the preparation shone through in every bite, making every aspect of this donair absolutely perfect. The takeout service was quick and efficient, and the staff was courteous, making the experience even more enjoyable. While some online reviews mention the sauce being overly thick at times, I found it perfectly balanced in my case, adding a creamy touch without overpowering the other flavors. King of Donair remains true to its title as Canada’s donair pioneer, and this large Classic Original is a true celebration of flavor and generosity. If you’re looking for a hearty and delicious meal in Dartmouth, I highly recommend their Classic Original Donair – but come hungry! I’ll definitely be back for another...
Read moreHeard plenty of great things about KOS. This was the first and most likely only time I will try this place. Order was wrong. Asked for 2 regular with everything and 1 regular without onions, 1 regular without tomatoes and a side order of fries and one poutine. Half of them didn’t have any sauce l, the 2 regular with everything didn’t have tomatoes and than half way through preparing the donairs he told us that he was out of fries. He didn’t want to refund to our credit card and instead give us cash. No problem. When he added it up he didn’t include the tax we paid on the items. After a little explaining he agreed to give us back what we were owed. Service was bad It was over 40C in the store. None of the vents must have been working. He handled our cash, a pen, pad and wiping his nose without gloves or a single time washing his hands. Pretty gross. The ceiling tiles were so yellow from the grease it looked like they would start dripping any second. Conclusion I sure hope that other locations are managed better than this one. There is no way a food business could survive if every location is like this one. Maybe I will try a different location if I ever get back to Halifax. Defiantly one thing on my list while visiting NS that was super...
Read moreWorst experience here ever. I went to pick up my food and found that the cook has shoulder length hair, no hair net and not tied back in any way, LEANING OVER the pizza dough while they are working it.
I called about the bottle of donair sauce I got on the side because it was wrapped in foil, and there was sauce all over the cap and neck of the bottle. The response I got was "I am sorry, I really don't know what to say I am just really busy right now. Can you hold?" He answers another phone, takes no order, picks up the phone I am on and hangs up. I call back. Same thing inask to speak to someone else to handle the issue they say yeah, asked to hold again, then hung up on. Hung up on Twice. Then the phone doesn't get picked up after that. I want to know what is going to be done about this aparent open bottle of donair saucethey gave me....
