This review is grouped based. Wasn't all negative but I wouldn't go there again. Terms of food- They start by giving every table bread, it was cold dry and dull. Not the end of the world. Moving on to their "cream" which is a chunky lookalike soup not creamed, regrets don't be fooled. Salad Cesar :) cut your damn salad please. Cesar sauce seemed diluted, missing condiments but to the taste it wasn't necessarily bad. As for the main plate chicken permasen was probably the only truly decent thing. Last but not least The Forêt noir, they are lying to you it's just a plain chocolate cake with a sparkle of chocolate and white glossing. To those who might think overall 2stars is a bit mean if the main course was acceptable. Being acceptable doesn't clear every other rating factor. SERVICE- was terrible and I feel bad cause I know it's hard to be a waiter but the restaurant wasn't super crowded there was more than one waiter and an assistant. Yet, Water glasses were empty for aprox80% of the time. We spent more than 2 and ahalf hours there because of slow service. Never got my ketchup, literally 1hour of that time was us waiting for the cake we ordered, she brought the receipt to pay even before serving it to us and then the waiter and assistant blamed each other for never serving it. Food was dry and flavourless,ask the server for ketchup and get the ketchup at the end of the meal great service if you dont want anything in a rush, first time going there and will be the last as well, one good thing was the 7up. Waited 20 minutes to be served, 45 minutes to get food, and the food was dry and bland at best, my wife ordered shrimp cocktail, the shrimp were not deveined and overcooked, I dont think the cook cares about food anymore, the service was sloppy at best. You would think that after waiting for such a long time the food should be mediocre at best but it wasn't, my in-laws are way too nice of people to say anything negative about it but you could see the disappointment in their eyes, I don't think this restaurant should be concidered a restaurant, it should be...

The night started off positive. Nice atmosphere, and friendly service. The soup was good as was the mushrooms gratinee.. that's where it ended. The ceasar salad didnt at all taste like it. One bite and it was just awful. They forgot our order for main course, ( only because in asked if they forgot us. so an hour later I get what was supposed to be filet mignon,smothered with their horribly salthy sauce. I had to send it back and ask without the sauce. No eay was was it filet mignon. Terrible. I'm a frequent customer of vieux canal, but based on reviews I wanted to try a new one. Big mistake....
