Part 1 of 2 My lovely wife Pat and I stopped by this restaurant after having been at the local theatre. We both decided to go with takeout since we were tired and just wanted to be home this particularly pleasant spring afternoon. Both of us enjoyed our meals. Pat got their combo number 9 (egg roll, chicken fried rice, sweet and sour shrimps, chicken chow mein, honey garlic spareribs, soo guy) at $17.75 + tax while I got the combo number 1 (egg roll, chicken fried rice, chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce) at $10.25 + tax. Happy with their service, Pat left a tip of 10% when picking out the prepared meals. After the 9 minute drive home, the meals were still warm (we'd placed them in an insulated travel bag, which is kept in our vehicle). Both of us thoroughly enjoyed each of our meals. This is a place we look forward to going to again and especially taking time to eat inside since Pat noticed and mentioned to me how cozy and clean the interior looked. Pat had enough leftover for another 2 meals while I had enough leftover for, at least, another meal as well (not complaining). The attendant packed enough utensils, condiments, fortune cookies and napkins for the 2 of us. Part 2of 2 Pat and I just recently took time out to eat in this fine restaurant. Interior is very well setup for its size. Very pleasant. It was not busy but I did check out their upstairs seating area. During busy times I could see the feasibility of being seated upstairs (no wheelchair access to their second floor). We both noticed the many orders being taken out. We encourage taking time out to actually sit and eat inside this wonderful family run restaurant. Hosts were pleasant and very accommodating. Meals were delicious and very large. We had enough leftovers for another 2 meals each (we did order a lot for that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy son and I tried for first time tonight, it's now our new favourite! After 30 years in Ottawa, I so miss some of the food you just don't get here, like Sunday dim sum with hot, fresh homemade sesame balls. Imagine our delight to discover real sesame cakes! Crisp and delicious, cooked to perfection, with a yummy homemade filling. Imperial rolls were also made in-house and very good. Wonderful wonton soup--just the right mix of salt and sweet and big fat meaty dumplings.
Spare ribs were tender and tasty. Chow mein a good mix of veg with a nice subtle blend of flavours and not too heavy and gloppy as so many are here (sorry!).
Lovely interior, small but pleasant. A few tables quite close together with a second seating area upstairs.
Maybe if we're really, really lucky and we ask them very very nicely we may be able to convince them to add custard tarts and ginger squid and black bean eggplant and shrimp har gow and mah po tofu and black sesame ice cream! I'd even wash all the dishes! lol
Seriously, very much enjoyed and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBack when this was Veggie Vietnam it was my favourite restaurant, being vegan. When it switched to Wok Etcetera I was worried I wouldnāt enjoy it anymore - but thatās not the case! While they donāt have as many vegan options as VV, they still have veggie beef/chicken and broccoli, veggie wonton soup, veggie chicken balls (to name a few).
One time when we ordered, they accidentally put tofu in the beef and broccoli and they forgot the flavoring in the wonton soup. I sent them a message on Facebook messenger explaining what happened and they brought me the full order of food again for free! Even the chicken balls, which were totally fine from the first order.
I definitely recommend eating here for vegetarians and vegans. While it doesnāt have as many options as VV (which is why Iām giving it 4 stars), itās still very good, and the...
