Sugar Roll Japanese Cuisine — Restaurant in Dieppe

We went to Sugar Roll in Dieppe, NB for dinner on July 9th, 2023.

This review focuses on the food excellence and the outstanding flavors that truly made this visit worthwhile.

We walked for 25 minutes to reach Sugar Roll on a scorching 30-degree day. Upon arrival, we were seated by the door without water or a menu for ten minutes. However, despite the servers being busy, they provided attentive service after the initial delay. As a foodie and a reviewer for @chowhoundgta on IG, we typically give a restaurant one chance to get things right, and they certainly did.

The sushi at Sugar Roll was outstanding and undeniably the highlight of our experience. The Volcano roll and Dynamite rolls were incredibly fresh, flavorful, and had a perfect texture. Similarly, we found the Tonkotsu and Bulgogi ramen to be delightful, offering a harmonious combination of taste and texture. We enjoyed all this deliciousnesses with a Sapporo draft.

The place was bustling with patrons, customer pickups, and meal delivery services, which is a clear testament to its popularity and demand.

So this was my third visit to the store maybe one or two weeks ago with my friend, we got ramen and the second combo in the list, the ramen was tasteless but the worse thing was the combo. You see the whole point of getting a combo is trying diverse sushi options, but unfortunately the sushi was stale, every single type was the same, had the same ingredients, the same taste, even the same sauce on top !!! Like I said this is nothing like what I ate during my first visit, and it’s a very disappointing turn of events because that will be my last visit. Oh and I forgot, during my second visit, in their defence my friend and I did go 1 hour before their closing time, but they made sure to make us rush, when we said we needed more time to think, one of the guys told us straight away that “ take your time but the kitchen will be closing at 8” wow, I’ve been to restaurants around but never felt so unwelcome, the only silver lining was that the food was actually not bad, we were hungry and we managed to eat and leave the place...

Went here for late lunch on the 19th with friends because they were raving about this ramen place. My workmates have been here previously but it was my first time to dine here. I ordered Tonkotsu black and simple salmon roll. I can’t get enough of their salmon roll I had to order a take away for me to enjoy for dinner🤪 The tonkotsu black is very aromatic and it was assembled perfectly. They say we eat with our eyes first and they did a perfect job in presenting the food and the smell just tingles your senses to the highest level💕 My first sip of the broth is heaven!
