Walked in wasn't greeted while the server was standing at the counter, asked if we could sit outside he said sure pick anywhere?! When we got to the beautiful porch he's like here you can sit So we sat down We ordered an appetizer to start than our main course. The main course arrived with out my gravy on the side. We asked if the app was coming he's like ummm yeas... Then I walked in after half way through my meal to ask for the gravy on the side and he's like ohhh yea and I asked about the app wanted to cancel it but he said it was too late the kitchen was prepping it. It came about 10-15 minutes after we were done our meal for basically like a dessert. But I was like I wanted to cancel it he's like basically it was too late so I asked if he could comp it as it was his error for not ordering it right away. He persisted to tell me to take it home as it will be good later. Which we all know combo platters don't hold up while traveling they get gross. Told us that's fine once we asked to speak with the manager that they will comp the appetizer Also told him his shoe laces were untied and he's like I like it this way. It will be staying this way for a while. I had to go in to pay my bill he didn't let me see my receipt until after I paid at the cash. As he charged me $7.50 for a side gravy (probably to make up for the comped app that we didn't even eat. ) He was very smug and rude and wasn't professional or even apologetic for the error. He acted like we were out looking for a free meal When we say the amazing google reviews and we're looking forward to try this hot spot in Bracebridge. My partner went in to the washroom and he's like oh I was just coming out to have you guys pay at this point I already paid the guy. He literally tried to get me to pay twice for this meal. When I told him I ready paid he's like well I have a very bad memory which again opened the door for an apology. Which left a really bad taste in my mouth, as a former server I know how just saying sorry goes along way with customers. I left very unhappy with the service the main meal was amazing but I won't be back, as I don't like being treated like a criminal for the mistake of the server. This has been a super...
Read moreMy husband and I visited this restaurant earlier today for breakfast after reading reviews which indicated that this place was a "hidden gem". It was busy when we arrived, so I was prepared to wait and looked forward to a pleasant and delicious meal. We were thrilled to be offered seats outdoors within minutes of arrival. There was only 1 staff member to attend 10+ tables, again, we were prepared to wait--after all this was a "hidden gem"-- the surroundings were pleasant and we were not in a hurry. The food was ordinary, nothing special that you couldn't get in an ordinary diner but that was okay, we're in Muskoka and it's a beautiful fall day! Our waitress was definitely having a bad day, she never smiled or exchanged pleasantries, no eye contact and not once did she ask if we needed anything after our meal was served. We received 1 cup of coffee, no refill. We asked for water, which after waiting for half an hour was nowhere to be seen. I proceeded to walk inside to see if I could get some when I saw the waitress with a tray of drinks including water. I smiled and said "oh, I see you have our water", she literally whizzed past me without a word and walked toward my table. I ordered french toast and my husband ordered apple juice which were never served but was on the bill, we had to remind her to remove the french toast. Ten percent was added automatically to the bill for a tip which was definitely not deserved. Now just in case someone thinks that she was too busy hence the total lack of service let me just say I did hear her ask three groups of diners if everything was okay. So I'm wondering was it just us? Two visible minority individuals who were treated as though we were in the wrong place. Horrible. I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially if...
Read moreOld house setting looked intriguing, so we gave it a try.
We were there on a Thursday in early September, so it was after the busiest season. I think that explains why this ended up as a 2 star review.
The menu is chock full of all kinds of comfort food, impressive, and a great start.
Service was slow to our table, but seemed quite timely to the tables of "regulars" (we are just passing through, you know... tourists).
We made our choices and waited to have the order taken.
Each of us placed orders and the waitress (seemed to we working alone, older lady, didn't look very happy) was very quick to be snippy. No doubt she has heard the questions we asked several thousand times, but that shouldn't be the fault of customers.
Each question we asked ("can you tell me if this can be made without any dairy?") was met with annoyance and sharp replies, ("so you want the toast dry?").
Menu states choice of potatoes, so the question asked, "what are the potato choices?" Sigh... "only fries"
"Can I add a Greek salad to that?" Sigh... "no substitutions". "I'd like to ADD a salad please." Sigh... "then that's a side salad you want to order."
Food was really good, portions were very generous, but I think our waitress was tired of... well, being a waitress.
If there was a next time, I would study up on the Nick's jargon, so I didn't have to make her correct us.
But there won't be a next time, although we are in Bracebridge about every month all year round.
Sad, because so much of this...
