New Haven Restaurant — Restaurant in District Municipality of Muskoka

Not sure what has happened here? Food has been less than acceptable and the owners (lady) attitude is mean lately. I have eaten from the New Haven since I moved here in 2007. The food quality and service has never been in question. Mostly take out but prior Covid, many were sit in experiences. We did a large order ($150ish) for my wife’s birthday Feb 14. I notified the owner by phone and was scolded that should have returned the order (immediately prior to eating any) back to the store (it was a pick up order)The intent of my call was to provide customer constructive feedback not seeking consideration or replacement of my loss. Yesterday after my wife returned home from a hospital procedure (you know the one that you don’t eat for 36 hours, golden years yay!) and was her chosen first meal. We had four dishes. The two egg rolls came soggy with grease, the CFR was sticky and not their prior normal quality, the chicken balls were overcooked in the fryer (had to cut with steak knife),the beef in the beef and broccoli mix was tough like liver (tasted off as well), and found the broccoli tasted off. I stopped in person this time to offer feedback not looking for any compensation. I had the remaining food (mostly still all full, I ate 1/2 the chickenballs) she ordered me to bring the food in, she had an excuse for every issue, scolded me for eating the chickenballs, was yelling whole time (I could not get a word in edgewise), told me she only deals with “nice and honest” people, told me to get out and never to come back. I took my leftover food to my son. Unfortunately, THE NEW HAVEN RESTAURANT has a monopoly in Bracebridge. Hopefully our Town can attract another Chinese Food Vendor to the town we all love. Until then guess we are back to Gravenhurst, RICKSHAW or CHINA HOUSE. We have never been let down by either. We have eaten at New Haven before but it was a few years ago when you could eat in before the pandemic and the food was great. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR AND DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM THESE PEOPLE. We were very disappointed in the quality of our takeout meal. It was cold when we got it home and it tasted like it had been reheated, the lemon chicken barely any chicken in it and the food was cold dry and tasteless. The egg rolls were dry flat and had next to no filling in them. What is more when I courteously and patiently called to discuss the matter and how disappointed I was with my meal and to discuss the matter what I got was a very overbearing irate woman who could not hear what my issues were with the food she kept over talking me and was incapable of hearing what my disappointments were. Somehow she said I hated her? No, I was merely calling to say I had a bad meal and was calling to talk about it and could she do something for my disappointment, she flat out hung up on me when I felt that was totally unwarranted. DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR , SAVE YOURSELF SOME AGGRIVATION AND DISAPPOINTMENT AND DO NOT ORDER FOOD FROM THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR EXPERIENCE AT ALL. And I feel that...

This one is difficult on one hand, it is some of the best chinese food i have ever tasted and it is almost always of top quality. However, I cannot ignore the one night I received a bad order. Because apparently as rare as it is, when its bad, it's REALLY bad, I tend to order buffet style over combos. So, of the 7 or 8 dishes I ordered all seemed to be reheated older food, half of which were cold in the middle, the egg rolls were refried so dripping with grease and the worst offender was my cantonese chow mein. The noodles were somehow so overcooked at the center of the dish that it was like oatmeal and yet at the perimeter hard and shiny as plastic. To add insult to injury there was just a pitiful ratio of meat to vegetables, something they're not normally guilty of. I'd still recommend the place. I just won't stake my reputation on it in case you're the one person reading this that also has a similar experience. And to you. Try again at least once It's not...
