RUDE RUDE RUDE! Awful service! Owner was nasty to everyone in The lineup. It was as if she was annoyed that she had people come at all. We were told it wouldn't be long... Then we find out that they only had 3 people working... They only served in the deck and said they were just setting up tables for us ( a group of 4 and another group of 4 ahead of us). There were several people that came in by the end of it... There was only a couple people on the deck. Then she says that there is only a table for 3 so we were all out of luck. We found out by the end of it that we were literally waiting for people to finish eating and leave so they could use that table... But then would be waiting for the group ahead of us to eat and leave! The group ahead of us sat at a table by the front cash which annoyed the owner (they were just tired of waiting for an hour!) the owner the older woman came out several times with nasty remarks when no one had even said anything to her or anyone. She said in a loud mean voice that we were "all just going to have to wait!" And that "we are the only restaurant opened and we know it!". We left, and grabbed a sandwich from the convienience store accross the road. The group of 4 behind us was walking out as we were leaving the convienience store. Nasty TERRIBLE "service" if you want to call it that. They should either get a new manager/owner or just close. Terrible. Will make a point to never support this so called business. Rediculous. Don't...
Read moreWe were staying at Camp Dorset, six of us, we came into town for lunch and went into Zachary's. There was a lovely atmosphere. We were seated and the waitress came and took our order. Myself, my daughter, 2 granddaughters and 2 great grandchildren eight and ten. We waited a long time before our orders started to arrive. All the previous customers had received their orders, eaten and left. The meals as they finally arrived were mostly all wrong. Only 1 was right. We were trying to be patient but when the cook finally corrected the last meal for my daughter she was very snarky and rudely told her she would take 10% off her meal. My granddaughter said syou should try and improve your adittide and she kept harassing us with snide remarks and until finally I walked up to the counter and gave her back my meal I could not eat she upset the whole table. Then the owner came up to us and said we had a bad attitude and our boys had been running all over the restaurant. They had not left their seat. I paid the bill which everyone said I shouldn't. We left after I said we would never be back. I have never been treated like that before, they certainly have their issues I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Very,, very rude...
Read moreIt was 9:30am when we googled ‘open restaurants now’, and it lead us to Zachary’s (after looking for some possible crown land campsites outside Dorset). The restaurant has been around for 42 years, and no wonder it has very homey feeling to it—the decor, rattan furnitures, the 70s music and that superb lake view! I can’t help but feeling nostalgic on what it was like to dine here four decades ago. The menu is simple. My hubs had toast, eggs & bacon + coffee. I had French toast and sausages + tea, the portions were not big and neither small—just perfect!
We also ordered a prime rib burger to go, and it was amazing!
The gentleman (owner) spends time to converse with the patrons, and the lady (owner) who cooked and served our breakfast was so sweet! It was our first time to come here and will never be the last. We will definitely coming back here in winter time.
What made our experience here so special is that both my hubs and I thought that food was cooked and served WITH CARE! Thank you for the...
