Happy to have found a solid sushi restaurant who does their rice right in north van 🥹 not your typical americanized sushi joint! Small space that fills up quick and I can see why!

To name a few highlights:

Ended the day with frosty mugs and Sapporo ON TAP - iykyk Assorted tempura was bloomed and fluffy but their dipping sauce.. I wish they sold it.. so good (they make it in house) Nigiri quality was like that of a high end restaurant and their rice was chefs kiss (portion and texture) **Aburi salmon belly and toro just melted in my mouth If you can handle spice, please try their Tonkotsu ramen (make it spicy) it is so good and stress relieving hot! Post deep cove paddle board sesh worthy! Also had the master chef roll and they do a thin layer of rice and sauce was the perfect balance no need for soy sauce

You can tell they use quality ingredients and know what they are doing 👌👌 also appreciated our server genuinely checking in on us super attentive...

Pretty solid North American neighborhood Japanese place run by non-Japanese ppl. I come here regularly and enjoy my meals here.

That said, from the perspective of an actual Japanese person:

Their rolls are pretty good and I like them. Sashimi is mostly frozen stuff I think, but that’s about right for the price point. It’s a bit of a bummer when you order sashimi and it comes out a little frozen though.

I still haven’t come across a place that does agedashi tofu right in North America. I wonder what the mental block is?

I eat the ramen once ever 3 to 5 times I go here, but there’s a lot of room for improvement. Chashu and egg are pretty good. The noodle is pretty generic but it’s not like this place can make their own noodles. Broth probably has the biggest potential for improvement. It still scratches a ramen craving itch though.

Really appreciate this place exists in this end...

Always five star service when i collect my takeaway from Deep Cove Sapporo. Because they are new and amazing, Fridays are busy and super popular. I avoid skipthedishes and either phone in or order in person. Pro tip around busy times: order before the rush or set your expectations that it may take longer than what the online booking system says (when it's available). Quality of dishes are very high, and the service is very friendly and helpful. They have come out with my takeout to my car, provided some complimentary amuse bouche. I see some negative comments but those have not been our experiences, and to date we have ordered 4 times and will continue to support local business. A great addition to our community, very...

Sapporo Kitchen If you like Japanese food, this hidden gem is found in Deep Cove. It has a nice ambience & it’s cosy. They can only fit 12 people maximum so come here early. There are 2 tables x 2 people, 1 table x 4 or 1 -4 can sit at a bar style table by the window. If there’s no seats, do a takeout and head to Cates Park nearby. They offer the usual sushi, ramen or lunch specials (from 12 - 3 pm). It’s all fresh especially the sushi and tasty. We ordered the fan favourite and ramen combo. All were filling. Located in a shopping plaza, there’s plenty of free parking. The service was great. A great place for lunch from 12 - 3 pm (7 days) and from 4-8 pm for dinner (Sunday - Thursday) & Fridays 4-8:30 pm.

Welp, since Skip won't refund full value for the inedible items here goes... (Oh, and if you're the owner/manager and think this public review isn't fair because I didn't contact you first, go talk with the company that takes your customer's money and doesn't give refunds when they can't eat the food you make) Sunomono salad: Rotten lettuce in salad and noodles were so undercooked they were crunchy. Not about to take another bite when there is black lettuce in the salad anyhow. One of two beef yakisobas: Large amount of carbon and beef so charred it was brittle and flavourless. Inedible due to little chunks of essentially charcoal throughout the dish. Photos attached.
