Went here for saturday brunch around 1130, it wasn't busy, seated right away. However, just be mindful restaurant is within a condo complex with other businesses so limited parking. There is street parking surrounding so just be aware there may be difficulty at times to find parking, which was the case on this visit. You find seating first and place your order at the front to pay first, then they bring your food to your table. I like the retro-ish feel. The tables are arranged in an L shape so some tables are lined along the windows whereas the rest are tucked in the corner. It looked like they had some high chairs for the kiddos and also some crayons and paper activities for them so child friendly. On this particular visit I ordered the steak and eggs and it was ok. Only a third of it was done the way i liked it medium rare and the rest was well done. My friend and her kids ordered the chicken and waffles and pancakes. They also said their dishes were ok, the pancakes were fairly large. My friend wishes the chicken was tenders or a piece of chicken breast rather than chicken wings because the service was severely lacking. We had to ask for practically everything. Steak knife for my steak, steak sauce, the coffee they forgot, sugar and cream for said coffee, butter for the pancakes, ketchup. I ended up just grabbing some of the jams myself. My suggestion is there seems to be room for a self serve station for utensils and condiments and stuff, i think it could work in a situation like this since we come up to put our order in anyways first. Overall, its ok, i would probably check them out in the summer for their full menu and patio with my dog in the future to see if they are a tad better for their other menu offerings.

Really wanted to love this place. The 50s retro experience is unique in town. Nailed the decor and furniture. Extra plates and full tea pot were a nice touch. Some of the food was retro too. Early Companies Coming cookbook type stuff. I had a shredded carrot salad with mayo dressing and golden raisins (those are pricey). I have heard of such recipes but never tasted them. I thought it was wonderful. The daily special prices were crazy good. Ten bucks for 3 courses and a drink! Wow those prices are retro. Unfortunately, all that couldn't make up for the lack of execution on the food. The lasagna noodles were slightly over-cooked and mushy which is a mortal sin and a personal pet peeve. The veggie/bean soup was obviously not tasted in the kitchen because they forgot the salt. Not under-salted, no salt. I thought it might have been a dietary thing as older patrons might want to limit sodium intake but it had NO salt. If they improve the kitchen execution this could be a real destination meal in Edmonton. I'll try again in a few weeks and give an update. Note: A bit tricky to find and I tried to update the actual entrance in Google Maps. It is actually in a retirement community!

Thought we would come check out this cute little place. Entrance is kinda hard to find and parking is limited. the place is really cute and quante, it's quite a different style you seat your self menues on table but you come back up and order at the counter but they bring food out to you. Plates a jam packed so no lack of food but kinda hard to sort out how to eat it's over lapped so much ... would have considered coming back until we went TO PAY😡😡😡 when we came in there was no sign , when. we ordered nothing when we went to pay we are informed CASH ONLY, wouldn't take a credit card number to process later , didnt have an ATM or know where one was and we had to waist 30 min sorting out and getting an email to e-transfer . WHO DOES THAT. poor women behind us had to come in with two small boys to retrieve her cards the lady held while they drove to get cash. couldn't leave license needed to drive ... Either way it was very very poorly handled they had every chance to come to the 5 tables they have in there and advise but NOTHING. So Disappointed they could have easily removed our drinks and we had enough cash for that but Noooo.

My first time in was a wonderful experience. I ordered the special of the day, which I had chosen the mushroom salad and a roast beef sandwich. The special also came with banana pudding and a drink. They actually staggered the meal as I went.

The first thing to come out to me was the mushroom salad. A wonderful, light salad with mushrooms and what seemed like a light cream and dill sauce, although I may be mistaken. Either way, it was a great, light starter to the meal.

Next up was the roast beef sandwich. It was exactly that, and came with a side of gravy. Although I would have personally preferred if the beef was more spiced, I was satisfied with it overall. Especially for the price.

Lastly came the banana pudding. This was my favorite part. A very hearty portion of banana pudding arrived at the table, and after the first bite, it didn't last long. Absolutely wonderful.

I did also order a slice of blueberry pie, and was just as happy with that as I was with the banana pudding. A wonderful portion of thick and rich blueberry pie.

The atmosphere fits the bill perfectly. This is a 50's style diner, and it hits the atmosphere right on the head. The red and black 50's theme was a wonderful twist on a great establishment, especially for being a sort of hole-in-the-wall diner.

The staff was super helpful, and made sure that my experience was a wonderful one. Not only will I be going back, but I have and will continue to tell my friends about Ken's Diner. My only issue was that I had hoped for the roast beef to be more spiced, but for the price, I can't complain. However, aside from that, I can't complain about anything. From the atmosphere, to the staff, to the food, Ken's Diner is worth...

Didn't take pics as i got a classic eggs bennie, and it was your run of the mill presentation.

I will start with the thing the nailed, and that's the atmosphere. Walking in, it felt like Diner. Shade kd red was right, table style was correct, and the chairs were spot on, which was a nice thing to see.

The Eggs Bennie. Normally, when getting a soft poached egg, i find places tend to error on the side of caution and go more to a medium, im glad to say the managed to get the egg down perfect as i would jave expected. I do, however, have a problem with the Hollandaise sauce. To me, it felt bought and brought in rather than something that was homemade. I didn't get the subtley of all the other flavors that you can get with it, maybe overly buttery? I also found the backbacon to be VERY minimal, almost as if we are aggressively portion controlling, and it left the dish wanting more protein over the egg.

Overall, i would say from the one dish that it's a safe bet to go have breakfast, but it wasn't outstanding. Perhaps i will give it another try with another dish at some other point.

Gave service a 3 star because it's just sit down and go to the counter. Not much of a follow-up, but i did come right at open, so they might have been getting other...
