Ode to Olympus Donair
In the heart of Riverbend, a mystical place, Olympus Donair, where flavors embrace. I stepped through the door, my hunger ablaze, and little did I know, I’d be singing its praise.
The donair arrived like a genie’s gift, wrapped in pita love, my spirits did lift. The meat danced with spices, a tango so sweet, I swear it whispered, “Come on, take a seat!”
The veggies, oh the veggies, they sang in delight, crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, a rainbow so bright. They nestled together, like old friends at play, And the sweet sauce? Well, it waltzed all the way.
“Dear sauce,” I declared, “you’re the star of this show, you coat every bite, making taste buds glow.” It was like a love affair, a saucy romance, I dipped, I skipped, I did a little sauce dance.
And then came the tea, a soothing elixir, a potion to cleanse, to wash away vigor. As I sipped, I pondered life’s mysteries profound, like, “Why isn’t tea served with every meal in town?”
The ambiance wrapped me in a warm, cozy hug, soft lighting, Arabian hymns—a snug little snug. I half-expected Aladdin himself to pop by for a chat, “Try the baklava,” he’d say, “it’s where it’s at!”
The staff, oh the staff, they were pure delight, smiles as wide as the desert sands, so bright. They fluttered around, like mythical creatures, guiding us through the menu’s delicious features.
And my family? Oh, they feasted with glee, donair disappearing faster than you can see. We laughed, we sighed, we shared foodie dreams, Olympus Donair, you’re now part of our team.
So here’s to you, Olympus, our newfound love, a donair haven sent from the Arabian skies above. May your sweet sauce flow eternal, your veggies stay fresh, and your tea forever cleanse our...
Read moreWow. This is my neighbourhood donair place and it just keeps getting better every time I go — so much that I needed to write this review and hype this place up. I ordered the chicken shawarma over the phone, zipped over in a few minutes and it was ready waiting for me. Honestly, euphoria when I got home and took the first bite. I took a risk with the chicken (I am so adversed to dry chicken, but it was so tender, perfectly done, vegetables fresh, pickled vegetables flavourful, sauce rich, shawarma overflowing. Perfect pita to filling ratio (which for me, is stuff it as full as possible). I am not a good wrap/donair eater, but even with all the internal goodness, it didn’t spill over and out. It wasn’t too saucy either — the flavour evident but not overwhelming.
Not only is the food consistently delicious, the owner is so friendly and determined to provide A+ quality food for everyone and to stick to consistent hours. Every time I go, there’s more innovation on the menu. There’s a size for everyone (from kids size to jumbo) and the prices are very reasonable! (You can get full on less than $10 or get stuffed for a few more dollars).
My friends and I rave about how legendary this place is REGULARLY (it comes up in conversation at least once a month) and I figure it was time to lay down this behemoth of a review. I couldn’t even add a photo because I dug into my shawarma so fast and it wouldn’t do the flavour justice.
Seriously, sooooo good. Make Olympus Donair the business that actually sticks in that corner spot of the strip mall where businesses always go under after...
Read moreA very positive dinning experience last night. My friend Blaine and i told a few of our friends and they went there too. Blaine took me there to thank me for driving him home after he sold his car. The food was great and service was fast. The atmosphere and lighting was also very nice. It is clean and smells like home made bread. You can tell that the owners want to make each dinning experience a joy for the taste buds. I loved the way the food was presented to us, on wooden cutting boards. The only thing i would change is the forks. I suggest they use metal forks instead of plastic forks. It would enhance the already awesome dinner. Just a small detail and just my opinion. To others it likely wouldn't matter. However they do take the time to add happy visual details to each meal. I will return many times. Such nice people and a happy place to dine in or take out. 😊🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟You have to try their falafel....omgoodness....soooo good i got a whole bunch to take home. Yummy... Update: Saturday July 23rd, I ate my last falafel this morning for breakfast / yes --- they are good with Eggs Benedict as well----lol---- I'm going back to get more falafel for next week to share...
