Pa Peterson's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Edmonton

Great little local icecream parlour that also serves burgers and fries and other deep-fried goodies. Prices are more than fair and I'm actually surprised they haven't drastically increased their prices over the years. Last time I was here about 13 years ago a single burger was $2. Now it's $2.50. Can't beat these prices! A meal consisting of a double burger, fries, gravy and a Slurpee was only $6.50!

I would attribute the burgers as same quality if not slightly better than a burger from a hockey or football stadium but a fraction of the cost. Icecream selection is great and of good quality and scoops are generous. Very comparable to 80 Flavours but lower in price. Only downside would be the poutine, fries and gravy are exceptional but the kraft single added to make it a poutine is a crime. I’ve been a semi regular customer here for 30 years and have always gotten the cheap comfort food like burgers, fries and gravy and dogs. They were never “gourmet” but was always consistent. you knew exactly what you were getting and could feed yourself for 6 bucks at any given time. Ever since the previous cook/owner took a step back and retired or whatever the story is the place has changed and not for the better. The hot dogs don’t hit the same at all, burgers are terrible now. I have given it a few chances hoping it was a off day but it’s just not good anymore. I think before adding all the weird special dishes and changing the menu and pricing you make sure you can execute the basics of a place like pas. Stopped there on a Saturday evening, hard ice cream selection was no different than anywhere else in Edmonton. Burgers were frozen patties from suppliers, precooked and warmed for our order. Quality was edible, at least the buns were fresh. Fries again were warmed to order, gravy was acceptable and fortunately was hot. Service was not particularly friendly, but at least was prompt. Lots of selections of candies, frozen ice cream treats, which appealed to the kids! I would strongly recommend go anywhere else for hot foods, but possibly visit for ice cream or candy...
