I took a trip out to the lake with my sister and her boyfriend. We didn't expect to find this home away from home. The location is the perfect distance to a few beaches in the area which makes taking an after dinner walk the ideal form of transportation down to the docks. If it's your first time here i would definitely recommend the house beef and broccoli. By far the best beef and broccoli I have had to this day; as I am writing this review; yes quote me on this. The balance of sweet and spice with the exact amount of salt and savory; we were ordering our second round of this dish halfway through the first. The chicken wings were crispy, juicy and plump not dry and tough from being over fried. The rice dishes we served out of a bowl which yes made for a smaller than expected portion to share amongst three adults, just order another one and get over it. The pork spring rolls were a treat on their own but we lucked out the missed our chance to try the spicy fried beef but all in all we did get two orders of the succulent and tender beef and broccoli. There was no shortages of "hospitality" which is a word I am not fond of using in this industry because is just doesn't do it for a place like this. Come here and find the family you didn't know you had. Thank you for the meal. We...
Read moreThe food has gone downhill in the last 3 yrs but they still have some okay dishes that can satisfy your craving for Chinese food.
Egg rolls and spring rolls are NOT good monster clear, very mushy inside and greasy.
The Shanghai noodles are pretty good but they are not generous with the meat.
Chicken balls are pretty good and the wings aren’t bad but Ho Ho Chinese wings are WAY better! Like 1000x’s better.
Chicken chop suey is good and potion is great. The fried rice tastes like they use frozen veggies and has a stale taste, hard to explain… but with a sauces meat or chicken dish, it goes down okay.
Dry ribs are very dry and over cooked, I don’t recommend those. Honey garlic robs are not bad but pricey for what you get.
They over stuff servings of all specialty dishes with green peppers, mushy broccoli and onions. I’d ask for less veggies in your meat dishes, you’ll thank me.
The menu offers dim sum items, steer clear and stick to standard Chinese, trust me on that one.
My recommendation, if you truly love Chinese, temper your expectations and you’ll be fine if you are craving Asian here in Jackson’s Point. It’s okay but not great if you’ve had good Chinese in Toronto. No comparison
Overall, it’s fine for the location...
Read moreIf you're looking for authentic Chinese food like you'd find in Markham, you're in the wrong neighborhood. That being said, my husband and I tried all of the Chinese restaurants in the area after moving here from Markham and this is the one we keep going back to. They're friendly, the food is good, and the prices are decent for the amount of food you get.
The food is typical Canadian Chinese food, prepared with care by the friendly staff. We always get takeout on random nights, and sometimes you'll see their kids doing their homework at one of the tables toward the back of the restaurant. We've tried a variety of items on the menu (pretty much all of the sweet and sour items, Shanghai thick noodles, fried rice, beef & broccoli, cheese wontons/crab rangoons, chow mein, etc.) and while not all of it has been to our tastes, it's all been good. They always package the sauce separately so your breaded/fried items don't get soggy, and they use containers that vent steam for the same reason.
The only thing that confuses me is the chow mein here is bean sprouts instead of noodles. They'll tell you that when you order so you know what to expect, but I really wish they had chow mein noodles.
Not sure what to get? Try the Shanghai...
