Okay, I am once again changing this review. Again, today I spent close to 20 minutes in the drive thru on just my order as it seemed to be difficult. I ordered nuggets, then a large Chalet fries and a Pepsi. I never said combo, I never said I wanted Harvey’s fries. I get to the window and pay. I get handed my bag and I looked in, sure enough it was nuggets, and Harvey’s fries. I still had to wait for my drink. At this point I told this lady that my order was wrong and I wanted large Chalet fries. She said no, that’s it. To which I said no, I want Chalet fries, not Harvey’s. With a baffled look, she said so you don’t want the combo. Um….. no….I never once said combo, I wanted these separately. So I am now waiting longer and wasting my time because a simple order turned into something that it didn’t need to be. I got handed the bag and still what I asked for wasn’t in the bag, and I still was waiting for a fountain beverage. I will no longer be coming to this location. 20 minutes for a simple order is a lot for someone who is on a tight work schedule. This is happening too often and I will be taking my business somewhere else.
I have usually never had an issue here. Today seemed to be what I hope is an isolated incident. I went in the drive-thru and ordered, a Jr.cheeseburger, a large Chalet fry to at comes with the large Chalet sauce, and a root beer. I get to the window and this young lady repeats what she think I ordered, “the Jr.cheeseburger combo”. I corrected her to which I had said, they were all separate. She looked puzzled and I revived a little attitude, as how could I have corrected her. After explaining what I had ordered again, she made the price difference and I had to pay a little more. No big deal. But then she comes back and says that we put your fries in a large Harvey’s box instead. At this point I’m pondering how this individual got the position at the drive-thru, taking orders and dealing with customer service. I had to then, once again, explain my order and slow it down a little, then I saw the light bulb go off. She finally understood and yet another price adjustment. Then I was told to go wait in the parking spots because it would be a minute, which is fine, but how much time was wasted because you didn’t listen to your customer? You took it upon yourself to turn something into an entirely different meal without asking the customer.
I have worked in the food industry, fast food (Harvey’s being my first job) and a hand full of restaurants. One thing I can say is that when you personally make the mistake, don’t proceed to give the customer attitude for your shortcomings.
Work ethic is so important no matter if you are the CEO of a billion company, stocking shelves at the dollar store, or working a fast food position. Whether it be the smallest task to the biggest, take pride in whatever you do!
Harvey’s, you need to rethink who you put in certain positions, because experiences like that will make some customers go...
Read moreI truly wish there was another Harvey's/Swiss Chalet close by without having to go to Newmarket. This location has really gone downhill since I moved here many many years ago.
More recently, I have found that the drive thru is extremely slow. I have spent 20 minutes in that drive thru on numerous occasions and rarely do I get out of there in under 5 minutes, that has only happened a couple times. There could be no other cars there and nobody inside and I'm still waiting 10-15 minutes in the DRIVE THRU.
The staff have become so rude. I don't know who is in charge of hiring at this location but I think they are in need of retraining. I have had the bag placed on my door and the person just said "bye" and closed the window, I never get a "have a good day/night" or anything of the sort. More often than not, you are treated as a major inconvenience to them. God forbid if your card is making you insert it, rather than be able to tap (we all know you can only tap so many times before it forces you to insert the card and use the pinpad) I have been given dirty looks, growled at under their breath and just all around unfriendly.
This drive thru has always been slow, but never has the customer service been so terrible. It's not any one particular staff either, it seems to be the entire team, although some are somewhat more tolerable than others. I honestly think that this location needs a review. Going by other reviews left by other customers, I can see I'm not alone in my thinking. There have been times I just decided to go to A&W or Wendy's down the street, just to avoid the lackluster customer experience at Harvey's.
I really enjoy the food, though on many occasions (including tonight) the order has been so wrong, I can tell I got someone else's order. From ordering an Angus burger and fries, and getting a kids burger and hot dog, to ordering a quarter chicken and ending up with a burger. I got tired of calling to mention that my order is wrong because I've been accused of lying when I bring up that my order was wrong. I don't need to lie to get free food, I want to mention it so that better care is taken with people's orders, as I ended up with onions on a burger for my child who is allergic to onions and we ended up at the ER that night with a child suffering from anaphylaxis.
I hope in the near future something is done about this location. For now, I will no longer be going to Harvey's here in town, and will get a burger from another Harvey's location when I am out of town. I do suggest someone get a handle on what is happening there, as your reviews are showing, it's going downhill and that's not a good look for the restaurant, or the company as a whole.
EDIT: Exactly HOW MANY times do I need to say "NO PICKLE" with my club wrap meal before they stop giving me pickles? I'm allergic to pickles and can't eat any of the meal that is touched by the pickle, so I am left with just being able to...
Read moreI am a georgina resident and myself and my family have been coming to this Harvey's and Swiss Chalet location for as long as I can remember, sometimes twice a week. For the most part our experience with service and the staff is always pleasant and helpful. Does it get slow, busy and have we had a missing or incorrect item over the years? Yes, of course but having worked in the service and food industry I am very understanding to these things in knowing IT HAPPENS and anytime this has been the case it is always rectified with a smile. Working in the service industry is and can be high stress, high paced and tuff. Having said that, I believe in giving credit where due. We visited for lunch on the day Roger's went down and I would like to say it was surprisingly busy. Our food was hot, delicious and service was great considering everything happening in Canada that day. There was a young lady who came around from the back as it was busy and things were slowing in service and this needs to be said; watching her do her job and get the customers served and things moving is truly something to be admired. She took our order, she topped our burgers, made my son's slushy and milkshake, got my fathers swiss chalet, did it with speed and a smile, even went as far to tell us to take a seat and she would bring out our fries and onion ring(which were delicious) and brought out pretty quick. She went more than an extra mile and not just for our family, she was attentive and helpful to all the customers there weather they were dining in, taking it home or in drive thru. She went to all the other staff members and attentively asked them "what they needed" and got all of their orders moving too. She came up from the back and took complete control of a busy situation and was helpful to all. It wasn't just our family who noticed there were a few of us at that point who were collectively discussing the showmanship and leadership she took of a busy situation. A gentleman who had ordered after us did mention that she had worked at your location before and had just recently returned and she had always been on the ball as he put it. His wife was saying that a couple weeks ago she had helped serve their big party in the dining room and was just as wonderful doing Swiss Chalet as Harvey's and she seems to be on both sides. In all, what a wonderful addition to have to a team. Its not often in today's world that you still come across young people with true pride in the service they are providing and it really does make a difference to your dining experience when someone truly cares. As we were leaving we spoke to another staff who told us the girls name as I noticed that you don't have name tags anymore I wanted to make sure when writing this I could address her properly, On behalf of myself and my family We want to say, thank you Trish for making our visit...
