This was our first visit to this establishment, and first impressions are usually lasting ones. I had high expectations since this was a Purvis related business. Unfortunately I was disappointed. Upon arrival there was no indication of whether we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. After seating ourselves no one came to our table after about 10 minutes. We then went to the bar area and were advised that you place your prepaid order there. The two young ladies could see us there and you would think they could have told us ?? There was no indication of this procedure to order your food. I asked about the menu and the young lady without looking up at me just pointed and said “up there “. I found this to be rather rude. The other young lady who took our order was very polite. The table in which we sat had not been cleaned since the previous day as we were one of the first customers this day
I had to ask twice that it be cleaned and when it was, it still was not thoroughly cleaned After receiving our food No one came to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything else. The only positive I came away with was that the food was hot and was received relatively quick.
For a “ customer service “ oriented business this establishment is sorely lacking. I certainly couldn’t justify leaving a tip today. Of which I usually do
For the price we paid I expect at least there be some customer...
Read moreOK, the Purvis Fisheries boats put in at the town dock 100 yards away, I was ready to be bowled over like I was at the old Herbert Fisheries "fish bus" in Killarney ON. What bowled me over first were the insanely high prices! $20 for a 4oz serving of walleye, fish and chips style, meaning deep fied with french fries and a teeny paper cup of mediocre cole slaw, served in a basket. I mean come on, who considers 4oz a serving of fish, Klaus Schwab and the WEF?! Scared off by that price, I ordered the whitefish, another local mild excellent-eating fish the northern Great Lakes are famous for. Got the 2 piece serving, probably 8oz of fish, with the sides, and with the GST it set me back $24.86 CDN. The batter it was fried in was bland and greasy. Anybody impressed by this would probably go wild for poutine as well. Service was slow, you order at a counter but the wait for the food to come was quite long. The atmosphere was great, views of Gore Bay and the rustic half log paneling went with the Canadian north woods that cover most of Manitoulin Island. But not even close to Herbert in Killarney, in terms...
Read moreOk I hate leaving bad reviews. The food was so delicious, like holy crap the fish was excellent. But it took almost an hour to get it and there was hardly anyone in there at the time. And once we were done,a waitress came over with what supposedly was our order so I assume what we got initially wasn't ours? No idea but if it was that means our wait would have been about an hour and a half for two fish and chips lunches. And it was $50, ouch. But like I said, the fish was excellent, the tartar sauce seemed to be homemade however the fries seemed frozen and not super tasty. I might order differently if I'm back in Gore Bay,keep the fish, lose the fries and not go if I'm super hungry for fear of having to eat my arm to ward...
