After following this restaurant for months I was so excited to finally be in the area to try it, we made a reservation and had high expectations. When we arrived though our reservation was for 6 they werenāt ready for us and moved tables together that were different heights(not a huge deal). We ordered drinks and then went to look at the dessert options - they looked amazing! We all ordered apps and mains. After about 35 minutes our drinks arrived - one with the bonus of a fly in it but they corrected it but this is where our server started to seem annoyed by us. None of the drinks were exception but nobody complained. 10 minutes later our apps come, we are excited and hungry but then immediately after and I mean immediately not even 2 minutes later our mains arrive! Can you eat seafood chowder quickly enough so lobster spaghetti doesnāt get cold before you dig in? Well actually it doesnāt matter because the pasta is kinda dry, as is the truffle pasta. The majority of the table was disappointed with the exception of the duck and tuna tartare. Our server didnāt check on us really and didnāt care that it was clearly awkward with plates everywhere! We had all been very interested in the beautiful looking desserts but nobody ordered any because we truly felt like they just wanted us to leave. Every single one of us in our party has worked in the service industry before and all discussed that it was hard to leave a tip at all. I apologized for the rest of our trip since it was my pick and we had a much better meal the next night for half the price! Donāt read the menu and expect to be in for a treat as you will set yourself up for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have wanted to eat here for awhile after seeing several other favorable reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was not one that would bring us back. The atmosphere was lovely and although the menu was small it did have a decent range of choice. Our waitress was young and clearly inexperienced however, everyone has to start somewhere and hopefully she can use our visit as a learning experience. I had the bacon and eggs and Hubby had the fish. His meal seemed ok, the bacon on mine was delicious however, I ordered medium eggs and the came out hard. I was excited to see an added side of hollandaise but was quickly turned off by its sour taste. The butter on the side was charming honestly, but it was too hard to put on the cold toast. I had to ask for more coffee after the waitress came to ask if we were ready for the bill. We weren't even done our plates and hadn't been asked if we wanted anything else so we felt like we were being hurried out. Hubby asked if he could order some pie instead of the bill. He really enjoyed the lemon pie. We placed our finished plates on the side of the table to make room for his pie, I went to the rest room and returned to them still sitting there. I didn't sit down again and waited to pay the bill. I'm not normally so frustrated by inexperience but today was a bit much considering it wasn't very busy and there were several other wait staff on shift. I hope that if management sees this review, they go over the basics of serving with this young server again and use this as a learning experience for her. She was very sweet and just needs some coaching before the busy summer...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was really excited to try this restaurant when I heard about it on the news. I thought the menu sounded good and the renovations looked lovely. We booked a 2-night stay at the adjacent hotel and I was anticipating having pretty much every meal at this restaurant. However, after we had dinner there the first night, our plans changed.
There were four of us, and three of us all were anxious to try the lamb schnitzel. We love schnitzel and we love lamb. We thought it would be interesting to see how the two worked combined. It turns out, theyāre both better off separate. The cut of meat just didnāt work well as schnitzel. As for the sides⦠I make better pickled red cabbage at home and the potatoes were so incredibly boring. They were just four medium sized potatoes, boiled (I think) and then thrown on a plate. The only thing that had any interest was the whipped goat cheese.
The fourth person tried something different ā the lobster spaghetti. He said it was good but nothing overly special. They had had it better elsewhere recently.
We also tried the gnudi which was okay. A bit too much butter and another comment from the table was that they wanted texture somewhere in the dish.
I enjoyed my drink (Kir Royale). It wasn't overly special, and the price was high, but it was enjoyable. I am a sucker for crĆØme de cassis.
We all walked out of the restaurant agreeing we would eat elsewhere for our remaining meals ā and everywhere else we went was great (Le Caveau is just a little up & across the street from Longfellow if you want to spend a similar amount of money for a higher...
