My partner and I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Longfellow restaurant for lunch, and it turned out to be an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped in, the charming diner aesthetic, welcoming staff, and diverse menu options set the stage for a fantastic dining experience. I opted for the seafood chowder, and I must say, it was one of the best I've ever had! The richness of the soup paired with the saltiness of the garlic bread created a heavenly flavor combination that left my taste buds singing in delight. To add to the feast, I also ordered the truffle fries, which were equally exceptional. Each bite was like a symphony of flavors that elevated the entire meal. My partner chose the fried chicken sandwich, and it was a true masterpiece. The perfectly crafted menu items showcased the freshness and quality of the ingredients used by the restaurant's talented chefs. What's even better is that the prices were reasonable, making the entire experience even more satisfying. The incredible atmosphere added to the overall charm of the place, making it the perfect destination for a delicious meal. The Longfellow restaurant truly exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable culinary journey.

We came for dinner and loved it so much that we came back for lunch the next day! For dinner we had the lobster roll (best lobster roll I’ve ever had with the most amount of lobster I’ve ever seen!!) with a delicious side salad (much more interesting than your typical side salad!). Longfellow burger was very good. Lobster spaghetti was also perfectly cooked. Apps- the clam dip!! We also got the tuna tartare and burrata which were excellent. Also those truffle dashi fries were so yum. Drinks- the Caesars were completely over the top in the best way!! For lunch we had the fried chicken sandwich which was really delicious (option to make it a club which was so good). Also super kid friendly (kids had grilled cheese and butter pasta which was perfect). Portions were extremely generous! Patio was gorgeous and the perfect al fresco dining environment. Get a slice of the coconut cream pie. We also stayed at the Evangeline and the two were a perfect combo for our family getaway. We can’t wait to come back!!!

We really liked the look of the menu and we went into the meal full of optimism. The outdoor patio was quite nice although the table was very wobbly. Our server was friendly. The seafood chowder was good as was the lavender honey lemonade. Unfortunately, the mains were flavourless and very disappointing. We had the scallop dish with grits and pork belly, and the lobster spaghetti. We both ate the proteins and did not eat the rest. Even the proteins were bland. We were so disappointed with the mains that we did not get dessert. I think if we had ordered the more pub type fare (fish n chips or the burger) the food likely would have been better (other tables had ordered them and seemed to enjoy them). I think there's a need for the chef to reevaluate seasonings on the fancier dishes, or rethink the menu to focus more on pub type basics where they seem to have more strength. We really wanted to love it but the mains just didn't cut it.

After following this restaurant for months I was so excited to finally be in the area to try it, we made a reservation and had high expectations. When we arrived though our reservation was for 6 they weren’t ready for us and moved tables together that were different heights(not a huge deal). We ordered drinks and then went to look at the dessert options - they looked amazing! We all ordered apps and mains. After about 35 minutes our drinks arrived - one with the bonus of a fly in it but they corrected it but this is where our server started to seem annoyed by us. None of the drinks were exception but nobody complained. 10 minutes later our apps come, we are excited and hungry but then immediately after and I mean immediately not even 2 minutes later our mains arrive! Can you eat seafood chowder quickly enough so lobster spaghetti doesn’t get cold before you dig in? Well actually it doesn’t matter because the pasta is kinda dry, as is the truffle pasta. The majority of the table was disappointed with the exception of the duck and tuna tartare. Our server didn’t check on us really and didn’t care that it was clearly awkward with plates everywhere! We had all been very interested in the beautiful looking desserts but nobody ordered any because we truly felt like they just wanted us to leave. Every single one of us in our party has worked in the service industry before and all discussed that it was hard to leave a tip at all. I apologized for the rest of our trip since it was my pick and we had a much better meal the next night for half the price! Don’t read the menu and expect to be in for a treat as you will set yourself up for...

I have wanted to eat here for awhile after seeing several other favorable reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was not one that would bring us back. The atmosphere was lovely and although the menu was small it did have a decent range of choice. Our waitress was young and clearly inexperienced however, everyone has to start somewhere and hopefully she can use our visit as a learning experience. I had the bacon and eggs and Hubby had the fish. His meal seemed ok, the bacon on mine was delicious however, I ordered medium eggs and the came out hard. I was excited to see an added side of hollandaise but was quickly turned off by its sour taste. The butter on the side was charming honestly, but it was too hard to put on the cold toast. I had to ask for more coffee after the waitress came to ask if we were ready for the bill. We weren't even done our plates and hadn't been asked if we wanted anything else so we felt like we were being hurried out. Hubby asked if he could order some pie instead of the bill. He really enjoyed the lemon pie. We placed our finished plates on the side of the table to make room for his pie, I went to the rest room and returned to them still sitting there. I didn't sit down again and waited to pay the bill. I'm not normally so frustrated by inexperience but today was a bit much considering it wasn't very busy and there were several other wait staff on shift. I hope that if management sees this review, they go over the basics of serving with this young server again and use this as a learning experience for her. She was very sweet and just needs some coaching before the busy summer...

I was really excited to try this restaurant when I heard about it on the news. I thought the menu sounded good and the renovations looked lovely. We booked a 2-night stay at the adjacent hotel and I was anticipating having pretty much every meal at this restaurant. However, after we had dinner there the first night, our plans changed.

There were four of us, and three of us all were anxious to try the lamb schnitzel. We love schnitzel and we love lamb. We thought it would be interesting to see how the two worked combined. It turns out, they’re both better off separate. The cut of meat just didn’t work well as schnitzel. As for the sides… I make better pickled red cabbage at home and the potatoes were so incredibly boring. They were just four medium sized potatoes, boiled (I think) and then thrown on a plate. The only thing that had any interest was the whipped goat cheese.

The fourth person tried something different – the lobster spaghetti. He said it was good but nothing overly special. They had had it better elsewhere recently.

We also tried the gnudi which was okay. A bit too much butter and another comment from the table was that they wanted texture somewhere in the dish.

I enjoyed my drink (Kir Royale). It wasn't overly special, and the price was high, but it was enjoyable. I am a sucker for crĆØme de cassis.

We all walked out of the restaurant agreeing we would eat elsewhere for our remaining meals – and everywhere else we went was great (Le Caveau is just a little up & across the street from Longfellow if you want to spend a similar amount of money for a higher...
