as per the business’s request for more specific feedback, I was overall disappointed with our visit to Tucos though I really enjoyed The Texan taco and would order it again if I was brought back to this restaurant. I think it’s wonderful that there’s such a dynamic vegan option in Sudbury, but I’m not encouraged to come back.
We waited 45 minutes for our order and the tacos came cold. We had the Banh Mi taco as well and I thought the tofu was sour and unappetizing, though my fiance enjoyed them so that might be a matter of taste.
I found the service a little odd and felt distinctly unwelcome, and like we were a pain on the kitchen for ordering our food. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, and I think the menu is suitably diverse and exciting. I had hoped to come back and try the beer selection and more tacos, but the chance that a visit will be an hour plus and perhaps uncomfortable again makes me want to spend my time and money elsewhere.
As far as a review/rec goes: if you have the time and aren’t too hungry, this seems like an OK place for a one-time visit. Maybe as a group, since a larger group got their food far more quickly than we did and the restaurant might be better suited for a larger party out for a hangout.
EDIT: I’ll also add that it’s disappointing and disrespectful to reply to a critical review with “perhaps you just don’t like Mexican food.” Why solicit feedback if you’ll...
Read moreWhat an amazing gem to find in Sudbury of all places. After a very hard day of paddling we stopped for a quick shower and off to Sudbury for a beer and dinner really hungry for vegetarian food. We googled vegetarian and Tucos came up. The place is tucked away in a neighborhood that is in the renewal phase across the train tracks. We ordered a salad and Phish "avocado" tacos. The salad with rubbed kale and a whole slew of other ingredients split in two was delicious and so were the tacos. We then decided to get the the chips and pico de gallo were lovely as well. The nacho chips were house made and the pico was delicious. Waltay, the manager, was amazing to us. He is kind and attentive. We also had a couple of beers and both were great choices as well Tucos has an amazing array of beers from which to choose. I highly recommend this place for vegans, vegetarians or anyone who wants a delicious meal. I hope that Tucos will open a location in Toronto because I would frequent it often. Waltay thank you for your hospitality and making us feel so welcome. The whole staff there were also super friendly and the place was packed. Who would have known that Sudbury would have such a gem of a restaurant. ...
Read moreTried this place for the first time tonight as we had a gift card! Safe to say it'll also be our last. We ordered at 6:30 pm and was told 1 hour which is no big deal. At 7:20 pm we got a phone call that they no longer had one of our selections (cauliflower bowl) and so we chose something else(buffalo kale salad). Our food arrived just after 8 pm. 1.5 hours which is long but also fine. The problem was after that. 1.The nachos we got weren't even a little bit warm. It was obvious they were sitting for close to an hour. Also, maybe put some tinfoil under them so its atleast an option to re-heat them if they get cold. The Carinita's was one of our orders and had avocado instead of jackfruit in it. It does not specify avocado in the description of the item. Lastly, the order that we had to change. The Buffalo Kale salad didn't have any Kale whatsoever. Instead it had Quinoa and tomatoes which are not in the description. I took a picture to prove this, but its almost like they half made my first dish, then just mixed it with the new dish, but was nothing like what was on the menu. Such a disappointment as I had heard good things about this place. This was a...
