Wifey struck gold on her food hunt this morning! As soon as she showed me pictures, I was on the way to this sandwich heaven. Susan’s is putting out some AMAZING hoagies, Sammies, smoothies, and baked deliciousness. First one is the lil brisket; an amazing pocket of flavours including shaved brisket, kimchi mayo, hickory sticks and lettuce on an incredibly soft bun. Second was the ā€œholidayā€, an incredible Turkey rendition of a holiday meal. Turkey, Brie, arugula, pickled onions and cranberry sauce all tucked into a delicious bread vessel. Up next was the Italian classic hoagie, this needs no introduction or explanation; just perfect execution of meat cheese and vegetable stacking. Last one we had was the Muffaletta, a classic from New Orleans done justice by the amazing people making these sandwiches. Baked goods today were a WILDLY delicious s’mores rice crispy treat with bites of graham cracker throughout. A classic chocolate chip cookie with some heft and solid chunk. I really can’t say enough good things, from the food to the actual place that had a great selection of home staples. Local honey, syrups, jams, everything you would want. GO SEE THESE NICE HUMANS IF YOURE UP NORTH.

Local Beaver Valley gem! After a morning Bruce Trail hike I came here for lunch and had a sandwich and a lemon square. Warm interior, very friendly and cool local merchandise. Very fresh food made to order. The sandwich was a fresh take on a Boxing Day, with brie, turkey, Mayo, cranberry, pickled onion and greens on baguette. The lemon square was excellent: balancing zing with sweet and lemon zest that you could see and taste! Base was buttery and a nice crunch bottom. Highly recommend this place for lunch! If I had room I’d have tried the soup.

Hands down 5 stars is NOT enough. Absolutely amazing staff, beyond friendly and the food is just to die for. Will definetly be a regular lunch stop for me! Edit to say there aren't enough stars to describe the delicious that leaves this shop. I can not say enough good about how delicious everything is and how unbelievably friendly everyone is! Editing to add photos of amazingly yummy food.

Susan’s Deli – A True Markdale Gem!🌟

As a local business owner in Grey County, I can't say enough about Susan’s Deli—Markdale’s famous go-to spot for handcrafted sandwiches, incredible coffee, and the warmest community vibes.

The moment you step inside (or even just walk by on the street!), you're hit with the amazing smell of fresh-baked goodness. Everything is made in-house with care, and you can truly taste the difference. Whether you’re grabbing a perfectly crafted sandwich, a rich espresso, or some freshly sliced deli meats & cheeses in bulk (hello, sustainability!), every bite feels like it was made with love.

But what really sets Susan’s Deli apart is their open-hearted, community-over-competition spirit. They love everyone, support local makers, and fill their shelves with sustainable, eco-friendly, and handmade goods. It's not just a deli—it's a hub for connection, kindness, and incredible food.

If you haven't been yet, do yourself a favour and stop in. Support local, eat amazing, and leave feeling like family.

YUM! YUM! YUM! I had the Muffaletta Sandwich. It was awesome! Tasty and full of ZEST! I then could not resist a Strawberry Sugar cookie with a Strawberry glaze... Sweet as the dickens. The sweetness needed to be calmed a little by a cup of coffee and an Apple Strudel... The strudel was totally delicious! I just could not help myself. The husband had a Ham and Cheese on a Pretzel Bun, a great Portuguese Custard Tart and then the star of lunch a Strawberry Rhubarb Scone. Lunch was amazing and we had great chats with the owners. A couple and expats from Toronto. GEEEEE The world is a very...
