If you’d asked me yesterday, I would’ve ranked Helmand among the good restaurants in Guelph. Today though, I will say that the restaurant has recently hired some of the most unprofessional, rude, untrained, and incompetent servers that will make this place lose customers that have been loyal to it for the past decade.

Today while placing an order via call, I had to deal with one of their pathetic workers’ unnecessary attitude: ‘don’t call again and again’ (South Asian lady, definitely sounded new, but was acting like she owned and ran the business) in response to my second call to add an item I forgot in my initial call. I’m not one to ever be rude to customer service workers, and I apologised at the start of my call for forgetting my item and spoke pleasantly throughout, but having to hear this at the end? It ruined my entire eating experience.

Anyone running a business knows that the quality of customer service can make or break a business. And this one interaction has ruined my image of this restaurant. I will definitely not be placing an order at this place ever again since they don’t want me to ‘call again and again’ - they clearly don’t want my business anyway. I will also most DEFINITELY be telling all my family and friends who frequent this place about this rude experience. And, if anyone new to Guelph asks me about this restaurant, I will narrate this entire incident in full detail and tell them about how customers are treated at this place, and how they can find much better service somewhere else.

On my numerous visits, I have never been disappointed, and I'm constantly eager to explore their menu further. The Wednesday Special Biryani and Friday Special Butter Chicken are next on my list of must-try dishes. I can't wait to indulge in these delectable offerings.

Moreover, the convenience of free parking spaces and the abundance of parking lots to choose from only adds to the overall positive experience. It's refreshing to know that I won't have to worry about finding a place to park my vehicle when I visit.
