Kings Sports Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Guelph

Went here this past Thursday for the first time. It was a nice welcoming experience, you could tell it's a local hangout with a nice open bar area, spaced out dining seating, and some pool tables in the back.

It looks as if some recent renovations have been done and I can imagine pre-covid it was a hopping place.

The female bartender that looked after me by myself was super friendly, had a great smile, and was super attentive. My first beer that I ordered was cold, served in the glass that matches the beer, but I will say, that it was poured almost a full two inches below the rim, and with no visible 'head' on the beer. I looked at it a bit strange and I did notice that the next one was poured to the right amount from the top, to allow for the proper head of a 'Stella'.

There was a shift change and the next bartender came/took over. Again, awesome attitude and attention. We got great service, a couple other friends joined us as he took care of the rest of the bar, pool area, and was very attentive to our table as well.

We didn't have anything to eat on this visit but we will be back, most likely next week to try the infamous burger and the suggested wings.

Physical distancing and mask wear was very good in the bar and dining area, including by all patrons and staff. We felt safe here and I have a feeling we'll visit here some more in the...

UPDATE, visit #2:

Still 5 stars. This time I ordered food. Calamari, and 10 wings. Portions are generous! I was pleasantly surprised. The wing platter was good size and value and quality. The “hot” sauce was just right heat, and thankfully not “Frank’s Hot Sauce” yet again — The menu is not big: Burgers, pizza, wings, apps…. but the food is good, price is right, and portions are good. Glad I came back for another experience. Great local vibe. My server is fun, attentive, and genuine. The only things this place may suffer from is (1) visibility from the road, (2) name recognition/brand, and (3) location.

. :UPDATE : i have been to kings and reviewed the footage and am so happy to say that I was wrong and it was the hand sanitizer! There fore i am retracting my previous review . I'm glad the owners of kings took the time to let me review the footage and to be honest I'm so happy that I was wrong . Only thing I will say is this entire incident happened due to lack of communication and things would have been much different if i had of felt heard the first night . Now that we have worked through our differences i can honestly say that i may return for another night of fun with friends at some point.
